  1. My wife (Filipina) never lets me carry eggs. Last Saturday she somehow forgot and six eggs landed on the Tarmac, and my ears were blasted with her reprimand.

After I kept the other groceries home, I went back to the S/Market and bought some more eggs. I told her Babe, I am bigger than eggs, so just take it easy.

Later I boiled some of the eggs which had broken and the albumen leaked out…

    MM…they looked just like that.

  2. mukhang mushroom slice yung nasa loob…
ay! intayin ko na lang ang sagot. i’ll have lunch first :)

  3. avocado ice cream or passionfruit sorbet enrobed in white chocolate? although it certainly looks like penoy balut!

  4. Now this is what happens when you have avocado and guanciale your pantry. A cheek-bacon guacamole ice cream.

  5. Looks like the liquefied avocado for ice-drop in the previous post that you froze in an empty egg-shell.

  6. The thin in the scoop is a lychee. And the white stuff in the background is homemade(?) lychee ice cream. ^_^

  7. intriguing yung inner core eh. mukha talagang mushroom slice.
hmmm…..hindi ko talaga mahulaan, kainis!! &%$@#

  8. shortening or lard or some kind of fat. seems too smooth to be a sorbet. looks like its on a measuring spoon.

  9. my guess it’s ice cream. i noticed that there’s moisture under the spoon/scoop and the vessel looks like my own ice cream maker…

  10. Looks like the buko inside the germinating coconut that sustains the budding foliage before it shoots out of the shell, or , the scooped young meat from a mini coconut, except I can’t tell the size from the scooper that holds it.

MM, you are something else! really.

  11. Il take a guess- blitzed soursop/guyabano frozen to almost like an icecream consistency…it’s abundant during summer….mom use to do ice pops using guyabano with a touch of kalamansi

  14. Let me take a stab at this. Gelato? Homemade Gelato?

Prosciutto. Guanciale. Gelato! Italian was the theme of your latest feast. hehehe :) And you had Gelato for dessert.

  15. the first thing that came to my mind when i saw the picture was a young coconut meat but then after taking a closer look, it looks like it is a lychee.. (???) hmm..

  16. My first guess was lard…then I said ice cream? I didn’t look at any comments…scrolled down so quickly… except for the last one. Anyway, hope I’m right. time to scroll back up.

  17. Another guess, MM.

Cebo de canard o natutulog na mantika ng pato. You might even be getting ready for the next cassoulet which I am yearning to cook. But it might also be sorbet or gelato as it looks like it was scooped from an ice cream like container and it looks smooth and creamy.

    Hirit na, MM.

  18. eyeball sorbet??? hehehehe! Seriously,my guess would be guyabano sorbet? Or custard apple sorbet?

  19. 1) Taho; 2) Lard; 3)leche flan inside an eggshell (I have seen somewhere na merong ganun)?

  20. my first thought was balut. so i’m gonna go out on alimb here and say balut ice cream! :)

  21. Shortening or lard! Or something similarly evil for your health but would taste utterly yummy when cooked.

  22. Hi MM–my first time to comment… been following your posts since last month =)

my guess is that these have something to do with milk and sugar… could this be a milk sorbet?

  23. first look…ice cream, then 2nd,3rd,etc., looks like scooped caimito because of the seed inside.

  24. Where’s the answer naaaaaaa? (I whine )How many times do I have to look at that eyeball thing before we find out ???

  25. I have to agree with others. It’s either a frozen lard of some sort, or a sorbetes?

  26. Vanilla ice cream? Or atis ice cream (to explain the dark portion inside the scooped portion)?

  27. ang tawag namin dito ay BULA. you can find this in a mature buko.this is what it is, BULA

  28. MM – how many more comments ’til you satisfy our curiosity? :-) I’m so curious …

  29. MM its past 5PM already (Manila time) and everybody is still wondering. WHAT is IT!!!! I think i will agree with lard. The supposed ice cream scoop is not an ice cream scoop but a measuring spoon. The matter (what ever it is) is not frozen but just solidified. WHAT is IT??

  30. Aww! Marketman images 163 and 164 are available for viewing. Still I knew it wasn’t kosher, hehe. My great-grandfather was a lechonero back in the days and he would bring tubs/cans of the stuff home. My mom and her siblings would be gleefully content eating it with rice and patis, and so the story goes. Forward to 2010 we still have a jar of solidified bacon fat/lard in the fridge for stir-fries, fried rice and the like.
