What is Marketman up to??? :)

Before the cat is completely out of the bag, I figured I would put out this teaser. Marketman is up to something over the next three months… Which of the following scenarios is likely to be most true?

A. Marketman is writing a cookbook that covers say 200 top pinoy recipes, done his way. A section on local ingredients and marketing tips will be included as well.

B. Marketman is going to do some stints in related media like perhaps writing a column for a local paper, playing a part in a television show, or something along those lines.

C. Marketman is planning to open a lechon restaurant. Nothing fancy, just good lechon served in a pleasant environment along with some other classic dishes that complement the pork.

D. Marketman is pulling our leg and going on a long vacation (Africa or South America) and will take another lengthy breather from writing the blog.

Please leave a comment with your guess and anything else you would like to add. If the number of total comments reaches 500, then I will make things even more interesting. All the folks who picked the right answer will be put into a virtual tambiolo to win a prize of Marketman’s choosing… a modest but nice prize, say in the US$100 range. So what do you have to lose? A quick guess, seconds to type and enter an amusing comment, and a pretty darned good chance at winning a Marketman prize. It isn’t a multi-million lotto prize, but with odds just 1 in the hundreds, its a pretty good near effortless bet. Seems like a good deal to me. When the number of comments hits 500 (not so easy as many readers are allergic to leaving comments), then I’ll tell you what I am up to. :) Regulars who know me and know what the real answer is, please keep painfully quiet. Please leave ONLY ONE comment per reader. But if you have friends or relatives, they can join as well. Thanks. :)

  1. Hmm, this is harder than I thought as these are all plausible answers but I think C is the most likely scenario. So, “C”, final answer.

  2. SWEET…i will just have to go with my instinct and say B.) you will be playing a part in a telly show and i say “It’s about time!” There are only a few good-looking “mature” men on prime-time these days. I sure would love to have you on a daily basis hahaha ;p

  3. I hope it’s “C!”

I’d like to see something along that line, a “lechon restaurant” that serves “classic dishes that complement the pork.” And if it’s you who’ll put it up, I’m pretty sure everything will be up to par in standards, considering all the goodwill you’ve built through this blog all these years. ;)

  4. My vote is “A”! I want that cookbook! I’d like to place the first order…complete with a personal dedication please :)

  5. BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOK!!!!!!

there is no other way to immortalize the efforts you put in this blog but to put them into a bounded masterpiece! :) me likeeeeeeeeey! :)

  6. My guess is A. Or at least I’m hoping it is. A cookbook by Marketman would really just fly off the shelves.

  7. I’d be happy with anything from A-C. We’ll miss you if it’s D but I’m thinking it’s B. I can already imagine myself watching you on TV and mentally preparing our “ulam” for the next day. On a different note, I tried your crispy tadyang last night and it was a hit!

  8. I am hoping it is number one, as I would love to buy the cookbook! So I vote for number one!

  9. “A” should be easy!!! You can compile your recipes from the blog. I’ll be the first buyer!

  10. B sounds like fun but C would be more satisfying. I’m not a lechon fan but looking forward to the complimentary dishes! Hope you could put a lechon sisig in the mix just like what Zubuchon has. :D

  11. D
It would be nice to read about either or both Africa and South America from this perspective. And where and how many Pinoys he might meet in those places.

  12. A.

But i am hoping it’s C. Would love to have Zubochon available without the hassles of airport pickups.

  13. My guess is B. You’ll be one of the judges for the upcoming ABS-CBN show, Junior Master Chef and this would keep you busy for a couple of months :)

  14. Oh please let it be “B”. And let the show be JUNIOR MASTER CHEF!!!!!!

  15. My answer’s A. =) Have been a reader of your blog for almost 3 years now and I can’t wait for a Marketman cookbook! Hahaha!

  16. A. Please have it published, and not just made available to your friends. :)

But I’m wishing you’ll also consider doing letter C, so folks here in Manila can have Zubuchon without the need to go to Cebu or pick it up at the airport.

  17. im really, really crossing my fingers and praying it’s C! and i hope there’s a branch in manila too!!! i’m excited and can’t wait!!!

  18. My first choice is C since you’ve been working on this for quite some time. But there’s a possibility of doing B too.

    But my choice is C

  19. A is quite hard to complete 200 recipes in 3 months. B is possible. C will be really great. D would be remote if you had to do A, B or C simultaneously.

    Hmmm, I’d guess B.

  20. I want ‘D’ please :-) I always enjoy reading and looking at pictures from around the world, especially South America.

  21. My guess is B.

Hopefully, seeing more of you and your dishes (lechon or not) on a more regular basis.

  22. D. yes go on a vacation. Since its vacation for the Teen. Africa or South America will be interesting!

  23. A or B.

You’ve mentioned each a couple of times already (A, you asking how we cook our own version of Pinoy classics; B, you in the Pinoy version of a well-known cooking reality show.)

    So maybe A and B? :)

Whatever it is, I’m excited. :D

  24. cookbook!!! I’m hoping it will be A! It will be on front on my collection of cookbook.Since I was in your Blagosphere , I had cook and tried your recipe with success.Imagine a cookbook!!US away fr.home..Book.

  25. I’ve been silently following your blog for more than a year. So I guess it’s time to have fun and join in. :) I am thinking of A & B but more inclined to B. Whatever it is, I’m excited to hear about it. Good luck to your new endeavor/s MarketMan

  26. hi mm! i’ll go with A–“Marketman is writing a cookbook that covers say 200 top pinoy recipes, done his way. A section on local ingredients and marketing tips will be included as well.”

you’ve probably planted dozens of trees and you have a wonderful daughter, so book na lang kulang. :)

  27. D. Bring your family on a vacation and share with us the fascinating places and experiences you will have. Enjoy!

  28. A, B and C.

  29. I think A and C are already in your plans. But for the given timeframe,
    I’m guessing D!

  30. I guess I’ll overcome my commenting allergy to bump the total closer to 500 …

Eh, all are likely. You’ve previously mentioned a cookbook and the archives would give you a great start, also a TV appearance doesn’t seem unreasonable, nor does a restaurant.

Too difficult, I think it’s C — because it’s the most out-of-the-blue one and you picked three other likely choices based on things you’ve previously mentioned.

But, for the record, I’d totally pay for the cookbook, so if it’s not A this time make sure you get on that next. :)

    SD

  31. I really hope its “A”…will be first in line to buy…and buy more to give as presents…

  32. E –for all of the above :D
lol, couldn’t resist, but I think no matter what venture you choose, you have very loyal readers who will be happy for you

  33. All of the above, but not necessarily at the same time, but please do not make that breather too long :) Hope things work out well for you!

  34. All of the above options are possible (and do-able) :)
Then again… I choose B (looking forward to seeing you on TV)

  35. I’d say B. Marketman will have his media stint, and be the uber media persona we want him to be.

  36. A & C

A – hints have been lingering around for some time.

C – natural progression from what you have & all the related experiment recipes.

    Why not B & D

B – you already have this blog & you have to show your face instead of your back if you do take this up.

D – you will die of not being able to write or say something.

  37. I’d go for A. I’ve always been a fan of your recipes and it would be nice to actually own a compendium of your recipes… and apparently I’m from China?

  38. I’m an old reader yet my first time to leave a comment….
    My guess… A,B,C, & D.. (all of the above)
I think everyone will be very happy!!

  39. Hmm… Though A and C are wonderful projects too (I’m sure to be one to line up to buy the book or taste some lechon), I’d think I’d go for B. :)

  40. I hope that Marketman is planning to open a lechon restaurant. Nothing fancy, just good lechon served in a pleasant environment along with some other classic dishes that complement the pork.

    I want to eat there!

  41. Oh, definitely C…you gave away concepts “nothing fancy” and “classic dishes to complement the pork” totally gave you away! Buwahahahaa!!

  42. B!!! Since you said it will be something you will be doing in the next 3 months! That’s why you had to lose weight, because TV adds a lot more pounds!!! :). I hope I win !!! :)

  43. My answer will be all four (ABCD) since it’s very likely to happen. Am I part of the virtual tambiolo then? but seriously my feeling is A.

  44. B! I read on your scoop that you might be the a part of Pinoy Junior Masterchef and 3 months should be enough to film the episodes.

  45. my guess is B. But I would be glad if the restaurant would open in Manila or the book would be published, a dream come true for MarketMan and us your fans :)

  46. B-B-B
(of course NOT the big bad blogger! LOL!)
Bet you’d Be on teleBisyon sooon… as a celebrity judge on a cooking show???? *wink*

We’ll be watching for it, and hope this reaches 500 comments!!!

  47. wow all choices are really exciting for you MM, my guess will be B noting you’ve been invited on junior master chef

  48. A, B, and C

and maybe a little bit of vacay time on the side. hahaha so 1/4 of D. Puwede ba yun? LOL!

  49. I’d say B.
Junior MasterChef Philippines Judge ala Gary Mehigan, George Calombaris or Matt Preston hehehe!

  50. I’d say A! Hardly leave comments, if any, but yes, A! But yea, Marketman would do A, B, C. Are you sure it’s just one answer? LOL!

  51. Is this like a poll, like whatever answer gets the highest vote, then that you will do? Just a thought. My answer is still B.

  52. I’m torn between A and C, if only because I would readily buy the cookbook once it goes out and go to the restaurant once it opens. :P Not that I wouldn’t read anything that you’d write for local publications or watch local tv (wholeheartedly I might add) if you’re gonna be in it… Hmm. Final answer is C! :D

  53. I will say A because that is what I am hoping it will be!!! If it’s not A, could you at least consider doing A in the future, please with a cherry on top :) :)

  54. my vote, A !!!! i can’t wait to experiment & try most of the top 200 pinoy recipes w/ a bit of tweaking from marketman.

  55. exciting! my bet is on A! probably MM is self-publishing a cookbook or got a book contract.

  56. this is fun! you’ve got a lurker get to comment now. what you’re up to is time bound, something that would happen in the months of april may and june. so my guess is “B”. Most other options could happen anytime before or after this time period except for the upcoming kiddie food show slated next month. Way to go, Marketman!

  57. i am excited to put my guess – A as in letter A! i am praying for that book to come and be available to the public and painfully waiting for my copy :D… (please with a personal dedication from you MM)

  58. i very much want A and C to happen but i think it will be B…
judge for Junior Master Chef is 95% is most likely the reason why….

  59. I hope it’s not D because I will miss reading your posts. It has been a habit of mine before I end my day. And I hope it’s C because I would love to eat Zubuchon lechon while steam was still coming out of its butt. But my answer is A. I will surely grab a copy when it goes out.

  60. I’d say C.

He’s gone a long way without writing a cookbook so why now? (A).
He’s not into media promotion so why now? Plus the broadness/generalization on the tone of the sentence. (B)
He’s giving away $100 worth of goods to guess that he’s on vacation? I guess not.

It’s either of the first 3, this “event” is something that he’s proud of for him to give something worth $100.

    Just a guess. :D

  61. I’d say C!!!! and he’s gonna do/make it in every country he goes to……..I’l be waiting here in mebourne. hehehehehe

  62. i’m guessing that it’s a but am looking forward to b. hope you get a regular tv stint.

  63. B!

They asked you to continue as a regular judge on Junior Master Chef Philippines and will be appearing on the show.

  64. can’t it be all of the above, please? i’d love to own a cookbook that you authored; i would surely be addicted to your regular tv show and i am already salivating over your lechon restaurant. i’m guessing that it’s c, if correct, this sadly will also translate to us definitely gaining more pounds.

  65. I say it’s A.

Though I would love it if it were C and said restaurant was located near Las Pinas where I live…

  66. longtime reader, first time to comment :D

I wish the answer is all of the above, but if I have to choose one, I like A.
would really love to have a copy of a cookbook made by you :D
Goodluck in whatever it is you are undertaking!

  67. Media will definitely get a boost if it’s B, the restaurant scene if it’s C, and MM if it’s D. While we all want A, B, C and D to come true, the most likely answer is A – and Philippine culinary literature will get a big boost from MM’s cookbook.

  68. A cookbook isn’t surprising so block out A. B seems more true to form but I would go with C. Next post – viewers choice: guess the name of the resto

  69. Maybe MM won the jackpot in the lotto and would be away for a long vacation in Africa and South America and would give away $100.00 to each commenter. Naah!
Or maybe he has accepted the offer from ABS-CBN to be a judge on the Junior Masterchef. But how would he get paid? Writing for a daily? Naah!!
Open up a restaurant? Too much investment of time and money and effort. Think MM, is happy with Zubuchon as it is at present. Naah!

Thinking the time is ripe to launch the much awaited cookbook! The ground work has been laid and it’s about time the book should come out. So it must be A.
    A. A. A. A. A.

  70. Marketman is currently doing (C) and will soon be doing (B), wherein he will be promoting his upcoming restaurant. At the opening of the restaurant Marketman will also launch his cookbook, which was written while juggling (C) and (B). Of course after all that action, Marketman will take a much needed long vacation in some exotic location.

So my vote goes to D! ^_^

  71. What? No “None of the Above”??

Well, then I’ll have to say. . .

    A) Writing a cookbook!

  72. you mentioned quite a number of times about that cookbook, so my guess is A. I’ve been reading your blog for quite sometime now and this is my first ever comment

  73. ‘playing a part in a television show’
I knew it, you’ll be one of the judges for the show hehe

  74. “B” for The Junior Philippine Master Chef as a Judge and “D” because the kids summer vacation already started.

  75. I’m hoping it’s A, the cookbook, although the lechon restaurant wouldn’t be a bad idea either. It just better not be D (too much like Michael Jordan, MM).
    So A, cookbook!!!

(or the mother of all eyeballs? it has been ages since the last one!)

  76. I am guessing it is going to be A, a cookbook, because your blog is soooo interesting, it might as well be a basis for a cookbook, which you will write in C, on a vacay somewhere exotic, like Africa or the Seychelles….

  77. I hope it’s ‘D’. Would love to read your take on South American or African cuisine.

  78. i guess it’s a toss between “B” and “C”… although, my guts tell me that it’s gonna be “C”… i hope i’m right… hehehe…

  79. I hope it’s C…So that we would already taste Cebu Lechon even w/out going to Cebu!!!yahoo…Zubuchon will be available in Manila.

  80. A. A. A. A. A. A.

I hope its A, but then I hope its opening up the lechon resto even though I am here in Texas and won’t come to Pinas till next year.. and only in Manila… so I have to order the zubuchon to be picked-up at the airport.

  81. I say A…because for someone as generous as you in sharing your know-how and all the wonderful posts you have shared with us, a book is the best way to ‘concretize’ all that love for your readers/fans! And may it be just the FIRST of several books you can surely come up with! GO GO GO, MM!

  82. It’s B. You will be a part of ABS-CBN’s Pinoy Junior Master Chef, will you be a Judge? Or the Host?

  83. D

MM has dabbled in the ABC’s but has yet to do the D in recent lurker memory.

I’d actually be relieved if he’ll skip D and do ABC :)

  84. i’m hoping for neither A,B,C or better, do those three options at the same time. But basing from previous blogs and guessing MM’s character, he’s highly thinking of D :( but again, it will all depends on our comments…..

  85. My first instinct tells me it’s A. Could that be the reason why you had that online survey before about our favorite Filipino dishes? ;-)

*Btw, I’m from the Philippines. I don’t know why it’s showing up as ‘Sri Lanka’ in the comment section. I’ve tried editing but it doesn’t change anything.

  86. I’d like to think it’s all of the above, but I may have to settle for A, since with the current inventory of posts and pictures here alone, one can consider the cookbook already halfway done!

Woohoo, does this mean that I know already what I’m going to give some folks for Christmas? When do we place orders, MM?

(close to the halfway mark to 500 comments!)

  87. MM, can’t resist your teaser though have not been that lucky in any kind of contest and/or raffle. By process of elimination, it would have to be B, i.e., you will be Involved in some media related activity. Maybe as judge in that young chefs contest on TV you recently blogged about? Besides MM, the recent weight loss would be put to good use as this would allow you to project even better on a harsh medium such as TV! While am also inclined to choose D as you may be planning to go off again to some exotic place, the Kid would still be in school and surely, you would want to have Mrs MM and her with you in your travels. A lechon place is not that likely as it would take too much time away from your many interests. Writing a cookbook takes more than 3 months to accomplish what with selecting the recipes, testing them and finalizing the 1001 things that go into getting one to printing and distribution.

  88. All of the above!!! hehe

A or B… A because I want to see your cookbook or your food blog in print!!
Most probably it’s B (perhaps the Inquirer?) heehee B for me

  89. My bet would be “B” since most television shows last only that long. hehe Traveling for three months in South America would be like trekking the amazon jungle and going to Africa for three months would be like crossing the Sahara desert by walking =) I don’t know why it would take three months more in printing/publishing a cookbook if you already started it. I also don’t know how many months does it take to start a business, all I know is that the sooner one start the earlier the money comes in. So I bet for “B”.
“Before the cat is completely out of the bag” = before TV advertisements starts coming out. haha

    B-0
    B-|
    B-)

  90. Umm none of the above is impossible nor improbable and are all likely to happen in time. Apart from reasons of mortality, what could be another just as compelling reason for the renewed effort to go back to a Bondish 167 pounds in a hurry, an impending Mass media exposure perhaps, a book launching of some sort, a publicity blitz for a pig-themed eatery, or maybe just a cleaning of the slate for a cook’s tour of the Rio de la Plata region, San Carlos de Bariloche and the Mendocino vineyards? I’m stumped.

  91. It’s B. I hope it’s B. I expect it’s B! Let it be B please. ;-) Can’t wait for Junior Master Chef The Philippine Edition!

  92. I am hoping A, but given your attention to detail, I would think that it would take more than 3 months to cook a cookbook.
    D? 3 months on a break … naaaah!
    C? Maybe, but not yet.
Final answer, B! Probably more involvement in Junior Master Chef :D.

  93. B for me!

My choices were between B and C (though I wish A were possible..) because you’ve posted about them just recently but if I were given a choice i’d really want to say all of the above! By experience I (somewhat) know that you can be up to almost ANYTHING added with your very silly sense of humor and the choice D can never be far off… you might even be trying to make a new variation of Zubuchon with “baboy ramo” as the pig (though it might be too lean), sharing pistachio nuts with some important diplomat or walking around some foreign market somewhere! Whatever it is, you know that I’m behind you all the way! :)

  94. My guess is letter B.

    B. Marketman is going to do some stints in related media like perhaps writing a column for a local paper, playing a part in a television show, or something along those lines.

  95. I’d love to see “A” coming out soon, but my guess for now is “D”! Have a good one, enjoy!!!!

  96. i hope its not D ’cause I’ll have withdrawal symptoms again.
if its C, i hope the lechon restaurant will be in Manila then i’ll get to taste Zubuchon :)
if its A, i think 3 months is a short time to compile, test and taste over hundreds of recipes.

My Answer is B!!!! column or TV surely your fans will follow you. :) more power MM!

  97. My answer is C. Galing mo talaga MM kasi ang tagal mo na ini-encourage mga reader mo na mag participate sa mga survey mo pero napansin ko na bihira sumasali, at least now me premyo madami nag comment/participate, pati ako lol. Tnx for all ur info.

  98. Since someone said “E” is for All-The-Above,

I vote “F” for “advance Fpril fools day!!”

    hahahaha……

Please guys and gals, come out of the woodwork and vote to 500. I am one of those (or I believe i am) that MM meant to be painfully quiet. And I’ve been biting all my fingers off trying to keep my mouth shut….see how painful it can get for us in the know..;-)

  99. I would like to think that it is all of the above (and please make it all of the above except from the long break from blogging)

  100. I’m hoping its A but i have a big hunch its B, so my final guess is B! :) cant wait to watch that show! :)

  101. Please make it A before you move to B, C & D. What a best-seller would that be! And please do a book tour when you launch it complete with cooking and taste test on the side. Am sure sponsors would run after you. Another suggestion: gift public schools with a copy of your book so they could use it as reference for cooking lessons. Please make this wish happen:-)

  102. MM, good a.m. to you. Seemed like you are on a roll. Can hardly keep up with you and I do check in almost everyday. Anyway, gotta go back to your post so I can vote. No, I did not read the others’ answers, honest!

  103. I’d like it to be A but since it’s for a specific period of 3 months my guess is B.

  104. I chose D. Because you have been at this again for several months and you need a vacation real bad and it is almost summer vacation for the Teen. As I said previously, you are on a roll. Now off to read the other comments.

  105. hhhmmm….
A.-bec i remember reading an older post, that you were entertaining the idea of writing a cookbook. so hopefully that will push through :)
    B. not too long ago, you mentioned that you served as one of the judges for an upcoming cooking show, so maybe you extended their invitation and agreed on becoming a “resident judge” of some sort, and we’ll get to see MM on TV!
C.and lastly, with the growing popularity and not to mention the unending requests from your die-hard fans of your zubuchon although you stated that right now it’s all being handled by your cebu crews, MM finally gave in and decided to open up his own lechon resto, yay!! *clap*

now, having said all that, i can only imagine how busy you and your family are going to be for the next little while, so maybe your dream vacation has to take a back seat for now :(

  106. I think it’s B. I would like to see you on TV. Or in my case, over the internet via YouTube maybe, since I don’t have TFC!

  107. My answer will be: A

Based on current postings and with his appetite and his imagination so overly stimulated by his diet (di ba kung ano ang bawal, iyon ang masarap? LOL), MM had the time to experiment and refine so many dishes.. All of these trials and successes (and with the MM stamp-of-approval) will be included in this cookbook. We all know that MM has contemplated on writing one with his own twist and I think the time is now ripe… Whatever is the answer, a mightly GOOD LUCK to you…..

  108. Writing a cookbook is too passe. A restaurant is too labor intensive and not for creative people who love to travel. Going on a long vacation in South America away from the Blog is like asking a long time smoker to quit cold turkey.

My guess is that MM will be in a television show like Anthony Bourdain, his idol. I think he has been smitten by Bourdain’s exciting persona ever since he cooked that lechon for the media king when he came to the Philippines.

  109. I would like it to be A (and I will be one of the very first ones to buy a copy) but
    it probably is B.

Sure na sure na! B it is !!!!

  110. “A”

The cookbook will be great to be shared with friends and families who are to old or lazy to follow this wonderful blog.

  111. A as you have said before is quite far from being a reality. C seems to be more into reality but not in the next three months. B – what’s junior master chef? you must be judging for a cooking show. but it may be too much media exposure for you. it must be D since the teens are on vacation. what ever it may be it seems worth to wait for. Good luck on it, MM.

  112. I think it is B. I would love it to be so we can taste your lechon when we go home next year. But if it is D….I know a nice place you can stay for free.

  113. A! because it’s not B (you hide your face in magazine spreads, so a TV show is a stretch) and it’s not C (because opening a restaurant is too much effort for so little margin) and it’s not D because it’s A. haha A because we saw it coming. =)

  114. My guess is letter A.

Letter B sounds iffy since you take great pains to avoid having your face plastered on this site or elsewhere. So media participation is out.

Letter C where you open and run a restaurant hardly sounds like a task you’ll complete and wrap up in three months. So I think no dine-in Zubuchon just yet.

Letter D where you travel a continent for three months without blogging seems unlikely too. Not to mention costly, hehehe.

Now what to do with that US$100….

  115. A big bet on letter B! Considering how meticulous you are in both cooking and research, a book would entail mire than 3 months to make, with what, all the testing and revisions you have to make. And that doesn’t even include the writing part yet. And as for a vacation, I’d think that would be a tremendous setback in your diet! :) ha ha ha! If any foodie would want a vacation, i think one would ideally start a long and wonderful journey in europe, throughout france, spain, germany, portugal, and so on. I dont think even 3months is enough to cover it ;)

  116. I was browsing through all the comments and looking for comments from Betty Q, Sister and Atisan C. to get a clue since I believe they are they guys “in the know”. Artisan C already commented but no clue from him. But since Artisan C is involved, might it be a good guess if MM has decided to open up his Zubuchon, Etc. with collaboration from Artisan C. Just asking.

  117. I think they’re all bril, but I’m selfishly hoping it to be A. No doubt with MM at the helm, it’ll be no less than perfect. A cookbook chockfull of the best pinoy recipes geekishly tested by MM will surely change the way we cook, or at least save us from committing newbie mistakes and hours of fruitless labor in the kitchen :(

  118. I was hoping it is C! Bring Zubuchon here in Metro Manila!!! waaaah! Brings me back to the day when I had this trip to Cebu and I am not able to find the Lechon Sisig from Zubu lechon my Supervisor was asking me for pasalubong. It gives me the frustration to not being able to try it too. :D

But my guess is on B. I remembered that blog post about Junior MasterChef.

(I had to edit…my location says I am in Japan when I am not. LOL. It just freaked me out. )

  119. A – because we are all interested in a cookbook-cum travel-pictorial essay type.

D – please go on long vacation but no dropping the blog. Please!

  120. My guess is definitely not B. Is it A? I’d love to get a copy of that cookbook and send it to my sister in San Francisco. :)

  121. “A” it is, this is your dream more than all the other nice things you wanted to do.

  122. As much as I would love to have a MM cookbook, I believe “B” is the more plausible answer.

  123. A, B and C would be great!!! … but i am giving A a rate of 8, as i can always browse your old recipes…B – a rate of 9, as am not sure if i can follow the show’s schedule and besides, i can always visit your site…C – a rate of 10, as it can be a venue for marketmanila fans’ kitakits while enjoying zubuchon!!

    C for me!!! :)

  124. can we do “k type multiple choice?” E for choices a and c, F for b and d. seriously, i am hoping for A so i can buy the cookbook or even C so i can taste Zubuchon when i get home in June. but i vote for D.

  125. I would say it’s C.
Finally got to buy some lechon at your BTC outlet. Nice and friendly staff and good lechon! Hopped over to the next stall to get some organic tea to wash it down ;-)

  126. Choice A would be wonderful and it would be a good addition to the cookbook scene, but I’m going to have to go with choice B!

  127. My guess is all of the above.
You have previously mentioned that (A) writing a cookbook is one of your aspiration. (B) You have recently participated in the local junior master chef. (C) You have been testing several pork/lechon-related recipes recently. (D) It’s that time of the year for a vacation!

  128. D – and don’t forget to bring your laptop so you can share your trip with us!!!

  129. I’m tempted to say B because of your Masterchef Phils post, but the selfish wanderlust floating in me insists on saying D, because Africa/South America is a dream destination, and if you are going there for an extended period, you will post about it, and I get to travel vicariously through your post! Oh, and I think it will take more than 3 months for you to write your cookbook, simply because you’re detailed and a perfectionist and will want it to come out awesome!

  130. I vote for A. its like putting marketmanila.com in a book where in we can carry anywhere and share to others. The ultimate manual for cooking. :)

  131. been a lurker for a year, but i soooo want to comment this time!!
    i’m guessing B.. :)
hope to see you on Junior Masterchef, MM!! :D

  132. I have absolutely no idea! I would think to finalize a cookbook, it would take more than three months. You are not a fan of how local media treats its writers, so it cannot be B. A restaurant would take more than three months–it would be a permanent lifestyle change. A vacation would not require its own post–you usually surprise us once you are there/returned.

I am going to have to go with A.

  133. I guess it’s B. There are some local cooking competition shows coming up & I think you will be a part of it.

  134. hmmm… my initial guess is all of the above… =) but since it says there likely to be most true… my answer would be B =)

  135. ALL OF THE ABOVE!!! Except for the long break from blogging :) But I guess it’ll be B.

  136. A!!! :) because MM has a fairly new nice desk and the others seem unlikely considering MM’s previous posts.

oh i hope it’s A, (crosses fingers, wishes on a falling star)

  137. it might be a combination of D to work on A, B and C! But… if I have to pick just one, I’ll go for B.

  138. It’s B!! hoping to be part of the winning group!!! am pretty sure this is it.. I feel a cooking show is being planned(?) either with you as the chef or you at the planning committee.. *wink*

  139. hello MM. i really really want it to be A. but then, you also have all the right to be in B. for now, i bet it will be a B.:)

  140. My first thought would be an A but knowing that school is off in the Philippines…you’re going for a vacation with Mrs MM and the Teen… so I vote D…

  141. i think C…..i hope you will open a resto here in manila that caters “zubuchon”in many forms…sisig zubuchon,kare-kare zubuchon and dinuguan zubuchon yum yummmmmmmmmm ;-)

  142. A… A… A… Please, I hope it’s A. I rarely buy cookbooks, but I’d definitely buy one (or two) if you’d do one.

  143. (A). Most likely the right answer because of the rich and informative recipes presented on this online cookbook of MM. It’s a very nice idea to translate them into hard copies in order to have a quick reference when someone would just like to cook their traditional Sunday food or if they feel like cooking for a special celebration. This is a simple keepsake which everyone would really enjoy and it will be a hit. This is also your way to showcase your love for photograhy and i would love to see those glossy pictures of your masterpiece in a hard bound cover. Therefore, this would be my choice.

    B. You’ve done this already like with the upcoming Junior Chef(or Masterchef) in Channel 2 or with KMJS documentary. I don’t think MM would do this in since he is very generous to share his ideas with media without asking or refuse for any compensation or equivalent to that. And I think, maybe MM would not like to deal with so many pressure once he’s super famous. I don’t know, it’s just my opinion anyway.

    C. For C , it’s also possible considering the list of pork recipes here but I think he has started doing this… correct me if i’m wrong..

    D. I hope this is sham in case this is the right answer. But you deserve a break MM . :D

  144. Definitely B. Why? Well, simply really.

First why not A? A cookbook isn’t something you write over the next three months. And my gut tells me that this is on Marketman’s bucket list and will definitely be out someday but not soon.

Why not C? If Marketman wanted to venture into restaurant business, I think that would have been a long time ago. And again, this isnt something you do in three months.

Why not D? Well, I dont think marketman is the type of person who would post something just to get attention. His trips have always been documented and rarely a secret.

So I’m calling B. Why? Just several weeks ago he posted about Junior Masterchef PH version. I think that’s his next gig “over the next 3 months”

  145. i have to say A!! cos i think every Filipino needs to have 1! especially the ones overseas like me… please let it be A marketman :)

  146. A restaurant in Escario St, Cebu city…to be precised. Good Luck!

Please don’t edit my comment. I was 322, but the Escario Street was deleted.

    More Power

  147. My guess is B! thou it’s a treat for us if you open a lechon restaurant in metro manila if you may ;). i will definitely support your book because I know it’s not for profit.
    thanks a bunch.

  148. I think you will go on a vacation! Its D :D But if this is true…you can still blog while on vacation just like what you did with the Italy and Morocco vacation.

  149. Wow, I can’t believe I’m already No. 422 this early in the day. My guess is A. By the way, my husband and I are attending a wedding in Cebu this May – finally, we will be able to try your Zubuchon Lechon yahoo…..

  150. A but I won’t be too disappointed either if it was C! Whatever you’re up to, best of luck!

  151. I think it’s “A”, because of the cooking experiments and the trips looking for ingredients. And I have read before that you intend to write a cookbook. Good luck! :)

  152. i think it’ll be A. it seems to the most “you” thing to do. or maybe i’m wrong. but any of these options would be a good idea.

unrelated to this: last week was a marketman week for me. i *think* i saw you walking in s&r and got starstruck! and i finally tried zubuchon. :) which also makes me hope that C is the answer. but yeah. my bet is still A.

  153. Hay salamat umabot! Few slots na lang available. For me its definitely “A”. Now waiting for the winner to be announce.

  154. my guess is that it’s b though personally, i would have preferred it to be C and for the place to be located in manila haha!

  155. I say it’s A. Binanggit na ng ilang beses ni MM dito sa kanyang Web site na nag-tatabi sya ng ilang tried and tested recipes na isasama nya sa isang cookbook. Malamang malapit na nya itong ilabas! :)

  156. ‘A’ Though you might perhaps also be tempted to head up a new customer services training team for someone like – and of course this ahem is a purely random selection (!) – DOT, Cebu Pacific, one of the major Banks or a software company :)

  157. My guess is A. i think it’s about time that you publish a cookbook. This will surely immortalize those original recipes that has been featured here. =)

  158. C! I can see my hubby drooling as he’s the 1st in line for manila’s zubuchon?!?

Whatever you’re up to, best of luck to you, MM! :)

  159. A!!!!!!!!!!!! You have generously shared your recipes and it’s a real treat to have it all compiled in a book..we will have you “close” by….don’t forget to personally sign my cook book!

  160. My guess would be B, knowing that you’ve been part of Junior MasterChef Pinoy Edition. SO excited to watch that show.

  161. I would say A and D as these would be the ideal combination of doing something you passionately care for and at the same time visiting exotic places to even more nurture that passion and feed the senses in all aspects. I would do it given the opportunity.
    Cheers!

  162. oh MM …. a, b, c, are ok. us MM fans will be the recipients of such activities. d? first part is ok coz a breather will be beneficial to you, and eventually, trickle down to us… but not the second part, right after the “and”…. it’s… it’s …. it will be pure torture to us!!!!!!!!!!

  163. LETTER AHHHH!
You’ve been a writing fool this past month, I can hardly keep up with you. Two posts a day? I should be so focused. So what else can you, should you do? Write a book of course. You already have most of the material I bet. Ask me what I’ll be doing for the next three months. Waiting for your book.

  164. how about doin #A while beeing at #D !

basically i´d love to see #A coming alive i think you´re doin #D…

  165. My pick is B.

Whether it’s A, B or C….congratulations Market Man! I’ve seen you twice from a distance but always shy to approach :P

  166. I would say C.

Although I wouldn’t be disappointed if it were actually A. :D

I can’t imagine you writing a column or appearing on TV. Sorry, but considering that you pressed *the* WSJ to not name you, having a byline or appearing regularly on TV is kind of difficult to imagine.

  167. After reading most of the comments, a lot of which guessed based on what they wish MM should do while others burned more braincells by using strict logic and deductions and others like myself just trying to get a clue from previous commenters, in other words cheating, I came to a conclusion that using a divining aid is the only answer…. no not a coin toss but the folded four-corner paper that you open and closewith a chant…and it came out to be…. B!

  168. MM, I vote B! Hmm, I think you hinted something about this a couple of posts back. ;)

  169. E. All of the above heheheh.

Hmmmm I’d say D as you’ve never been to both South Africa or South America (at least I dont think so or I’ve missed reading through you blog).

If D, you’ll have to try (you’ve no choice) the best steak in the world from South of South America, Argentina, Chile, Uruguay even Brazil… Brazil heheheh Imma be there either 2014 for the World Cup or 2016 for the Olympics.. ojala!

And I hope it ain’t B, you’ve lost your mind, showbiz? really?

  170. My guess would be B- being a judge on that junior chef show, although I am hoping for A- a cookbook and D- extended travels to faraway, exotic places so I can be the virtual tourist. Wow- 500+comments and still going :)

  171. I sure hope its “A”. I need guidance with my cooking and your recipe book will definitely wow my always hungry family.

  172. My first guess, and I think the most logical, is to write a book. But the travel is likely to South America which shares with the Philippines Spanish influences. Marketman a businessman opening a restaurant? Option B is not just a three-month undertaking.

  173. I say A! I can’t wait to get a hold on that book. MM how can I have a signed copy? I live in NJ so I won’t be able to attend books signings in Manila :-) I’m so excited for you! Keep us posted!

  174. my guess is C and i really hope that you’d consider doing that. and even if i don’t get it right, i certainly hope you’d still consider putting up one in Manila! please?

  175. B – You’re gonna be on Pinoy Big Brother!

Kidding! You’ll be on Pinoy Junior Master Chef.

  176. I’m torn between A and C. Hmmmmm……

C would be nice, not a huge lechon fan however, a taste of good lechon would be great.

A would be spectacular! I would love a copy of the the food I read in this blog! Just thinking about it makes me all giddy and excited!

So A is my final answer :D

  177. Hmmm…. Except for choice D, all choices seem plausible is not ‘Market Man doable’, but my pick is B!

  178. A all the way. I could not think of any other Marketman hypothetical endeavor much anticipated.

by process of elimination, not B because you deplore the quality of journalism here having been plagiarized all too often; not C because while there have been clamors for a Zubuchon outlet in Manila, you haven’t mentioned it as much; not D because you typically just write a short “on a hiatus note” a day prior to leaving then you are off to your next adventure.

MM, shouldn’t I get at least a consolation prize for analysis if I don’t win the raffle? :)

  179. You will be a judge in that cooking show on TV. A and C will probably take more than 3 months and 3 months is probably too long for D.

  180. C is the answer. TO SEE A CLEAN AND NICE LECHON SHOP IS ONE THING WE SHOULD HAVE.

  181. off topic: i wonder what’s in store for tomorrow :-D
or is this topic somehow related to tomorrow?

  182. Hoping for “A”. We need you take on food. You have enough material to come up with one and hope you take it seriously.

  183. I think its “B”….gosh ang daming gustong manalo…(“,)…sumisikat ka na kasi MM kaya baka its “B”…

  184. Arghhh, missed this one, absent from MM last week…but I would have chosen A or B. Something to look forward to now whenever I’m in the Philippines. I pray for all the best in your new venture MM!!

  185. I’d say B. I mean, you should first have a ‘venue’ or a launching pad for your next goal, which is A :) So B for me! :)

  186. My guess is A.Our kitchen on our Homes will be filled with delighful memories as we tried teh recipes and cook with our love ones.
