Six thousand meals for undernourished public school children at the Tenement Elementary School! That was the extremely generous gift made possible by Mamou’s wonderful owners, manager’s and staff of Mamou who donated the entire proceeds of yesterday’s 4th year anniversary sales and service charges! Amazing. And I think Malou and Oye Fores were particularly generous and “rounded up” the figure in a nice way. :) A huge thank you as well to Marketmanila readers and other folks who dropped by Mamou Serendra yesterday to eat heartily and support the feeding program.
We dined with friends last night, 4 of whom ordered the largest and juiciest steak possible (it was excellent!), but I had a hankering for Mamou’s Kurobuta Pork Sinigang, that I wrote about here, and I am happy to report that it is still, hands down, my favorite version of sinigang anywhere in Manila. Superb. Thickened with gabi, and colored with tomatoes, it is as thick as a stew, but a perfectly balanced mixture of sour and savory!

MM, I am so happy for the kids. Thank you very, very much for the Fores’ generous hearts. I am so glad my friends were able to dine at Mamou yesterday and somehow contribute to the cause. A friend even said that the meals in Mamou are always great but knowing that the sinigang she was eating will eventually ‘feed’ disadvantaged kids made it exceptional. More power to all of you!
Opps, lest I forget, the staff of Mamou need to be given thanks, as well – not only for the usual attentive service but for donating their share, too. Salamat!
This should be the headline news. Not who won the 2004 & 2007 elections. To the masterminds of this heartwarming generosity, keep it up! Cheers to the owners & staff of Mamou!
