“Super P” Lands at Zubuchon…

You just have to go with the flow… :)

Don’t ask me what the “P” stands for, I don’t know, and I forgot to ask. A member of the cast of the GMA show “Day Off”, Carmina Villaroel and Pekto’s sidekick decided to pay Zubuchon a visit to taste and review the food for their program, to air a month or so after the initial feature where they dined in the restaurant. The Teen was present when the caped foodie arrived, and I must say we both just simply could not keep a straight face… it was amusing, to say the least. Frankly the tights were just too much to handle, as “Super P” clearly tucks into his food. :)

The antics are meant for a broad audience, I get that, but frankly, the man really did seem to eat with gusto… so we plied him with calories to the max.

Not sure about all the side poses and camera angles, but maybe that’s his trademark stance, sort of like being off keel a touch.

But in a rare moment, with his sunglasses off, what he was probably thinking was — “how the heck am I going to drink 4 16oz shakes without getting brain freeze?” A few shots outdoors, simulating mid-air flight, and the neighbors were wondering who had just opened a restaurant next door?! Maraming salamat Super P and GMA for choosing to feature Zubuchon on your network!

Don’t forget tonight is the “Day Off” episode with a segment shot at Zubuchon. 6pm or so Saturday night, July 9, 2011.

  1. What a nice way to start your Zubuchon resto. Good signs indeed. Congrats MM and Crew! My whole family is looking foward to our November Cebu trip. Just can’t wait to taste all those yummy foods and drinks.

  2. Hilarious!

My Dad’s closest friend recently visited from the U.S. When my Dad told me Tito S was going to visit Cebu, I immediately suggested Zubuchon.
Yesterday, my Dad told me Tito S was just so happy that he was able to go to with his family to Zubuchon. He even brought the frozen lechon so that my Dad could have a taste of it.
He marvelled. first about how the lechon tasted, the many delicious variations ( he mentioned sinigang na lechon), the stylish restaurant, and how clean the place was.

Congratulations again MM. You’ve certainlly re-defined Cebu lechon.

  3. Gej, we are so small the crew thinks they know who Tito S was, a balikbayan who dined last week? that ordered up a storm and bought stuff to take home, as well… :) Thanks for the recommendation…

  4. coming from australia- WOW, next time I will come home, I will land and Cebu just to eat in Zubuchon. I think you will surpass or take over the popularity of Goldilocks. Are you planning (or is there one already?) to open one in Metro Manila or Baguio city?
More power to you. I am already being tortured by your food photos!

  5. I really, really, really appreciate your presentation skills. My friends outside the Filipino community sometimes comment on how unappetizing Filipino food appears. For me its the cliche of lemon slices and hard boiled eggs. The feast you laid out is so simple, yet elegant. Makes me want to wear my undies outside my pants and wear a cape too.

  6. Maybe Super P needs to go to the gym to get that middle in shape. Lycra doesn’t conquer all.
Food and drinks look terrific, nice plating.

  7. Oh your place matt is the same as mine :) ….bought it at CK tang. I’m salivating on your food presentation!

  8. Super P for pudgy perhaps? The servings of food and drinks in the last two pics are truly appealing, even with the motley colors of the chubby caballero in competition.

  9. Congrats MM, Zubuchon is really a hit!! We went there last nite and it was packed. My friends said the food at zubuchon restaurant was great.. Keep up the good rating.

  10. Mga sir/mam, bka may nkrecord s inyo ng episode nung Day Off, paki upload nman mo po. Traffic knna, di ko inabutan. Thanks!

  11. i am happy to hear that the zubuchon episode will be aired next week.. i wasn’t able to watch yesterday, i thought i missed it na.
i want to try the pasta joan recommended. i wasn’t at the opening. she said it was yummy! oh well, another reason to go back to cebu!

  12. Daya! you cropped out your wacky pose MM! hahaha

@rosemd: all our noodle dishes are yummy rose, not just the sisig pasta but the sotanghon guisado and lechon pancit; to think I’m not a fan of pancit :) mas marami pa the vegetables and meat than the noodles!

  13. Super P is one of the writers of DayOff, i just forgot his name. He has a counterpart comediene who is also another wacky character. They have lots of shows in channel 15 (formerly QTV).

  14. Whoa MM. Am so happy that the episode got split into two. I wasn’t home when last Saturday’s episode was aired. Am feeling really low since I missed the show. BTW, I think the “P” stands for “Pinaka”and the guy in the suit is known as “Betong”. They have a show in GMA News TV that’s titled “Ang Pinaka” which feature the Top Ten of everything. But recently they’ve been focusing more on food. Hay! How I envy Super “P”.

  15. waaah! when will you open a resto in manila??? (i know china will be shown as my location but i’m in cainta)

  16. this is funny! people around may have thought that super p was your mascot dahil he was there on your opening, just like the jolibee mascot, etc. kaya lang, major major confusion dahil it was not SZ (super zabuchon or sarap zabuchon) but super p on his uniform (-:

can’t wait to be there in january.. those plates of food definitely looked very, very appetizing… i’ll get my lipitor ready…..

  17. Related update: Prickers similar to these: https://www.marketmanila.com/archives/pricking-pork are carried by my grocery (Pioneer Centre). The round ones like on the picture are P99 each; and the paddle ones about 3×5″ pricking surface are P200.00.

On an unrelated note, Pioneer also carries stainless steel measuring spoons like these (exactly with that notched handle, but not as shiny bowls): https://www.starwest-botanicals.com/images/D/483150.jpg for a steal at P70.00.

Thought you might like to know :)

  18. Betong or Super P is indeed wacky! he is actually Day Off’s producer or one of them (as well as in other GMA7 shows) :)

  19. HI MM! Congrats with Zubuchon. My mom visited Cebu last week with some people from the DOT and I made sure to have with her my “bilin”. I told her about your resto and told her to bring me back frozen lechon and frozen sisig. They were very happy with their visit and was texting me while they were dining. Parang 7 months pregnant daw sila after kumain dahil sa sobrang busog. All of them bought some to take back to Manila. She’s going back to Cebu in August, for sure going to Zubuchon would be on their list to visit again.

  20. i would really love to try Zubuchon!!! Is it possible to order, i’m from Manila?
