  1. Hmmm..I will be in Makati on Saturday…I should proceed there…great idea!

  2. Hi! Is anyone experiencing a different face of the blog? It’s an eyesore :(

  3. Pink Carnations: No eyesore for me, but what exactly are you experiencing?

  4. Hmmm, I noticed that the site doesn’t “expand” to fill in the page when I open it in chrome (so there’s a lot of white spaces at the sides), but opened it in Safari and it was a-okay. Is this what you noticed too, Pink Carnations?

  5. Hi Pink Carnations, one other reader emailed as well. What browser are you using? What you may be getting is the none-photo heavy version, using experienced by readers when there is really high traffic or demand for the site. But it should not be a permanent thing. I have checked both Safari and Firefox and the site is displaying normally…

  6. Pink Carnation, Anna Banana: Same here, I use Chrome and have to refresh the page a few times for it to go back to the normal view.

  7. Thanks to those who replied and came to my rescue :) Ive been concerned cuz it’s been over a week :(

Anna Banana – Yes! that sounds like it, the “white spaces at the sides” and also, the headings that contain the home, topics, archives, etc. have been in a row now; incl. the categories, recent posts & popular posts…I use chrome.

Marketman – thanks, the heavy traffic may be the cause of this. I use chrome, i will try to use safari &/or firefox. Sorry, didnt enter my mind.

    Helen – thanks!

  8. Experiencing it also + the categories (right side) letters are in light grey… not easy to read esp. for older person like me, hahaha.

  9. nina, pink carnations, etc., we just opened it on Chrome and it appears normal, so I am not sure what’s up with your browsers/computers. Please let me know if it persists for a few more days…

  10. Hi everyone, I use Chrome and it worked great the first time. :) Thanks for the heads up MM! I go every week since I live around the corner but I’ll make sure to get there early this Saturday, I don’t want to miss out! :)

  11. Hi MM and everyone! about the browser issue, try to update your chrome browser. It might work or uninstall and reinstall it. :)

  12. I use chrome and have had no problem with it, ever. Perhaps as ssa-ssa said the browser might need updating.

  13. What happened to the calamansi jam post? I am not seeing it or is it just me.

  14. Hi again! It must be that those who use Chrome must have to update it. But Monique is also experiencing the same issue. Thank you ssa-ssa!

  15. Hello! Im back with good news now! Major yey! All i had to do was REFRESH the page thrice and it was back to normal!!! (that was after i uninstalled and reinstalled, which was unnecessary, cuz it didnt solve the problem). Now i can enjoy Marketmanila in it’s full glory :) Happy now! Thanks to all!

  16. Hi Pink Carnation, how do I REFRESH the page from the iPad? Sorry, I’m not tech
    savvy ;-)

  17. Hi Pink Carnations! Glad that you can access the site properly now. :) Enjoy!

  18. Hi MM, finally fixed the problem with repeated refreshing. Weird that it seems to have happened to a couple of people using different browsers. I first noticed it using Safari, but had the same problem on a different computer using Chrome. Hmmmmm….

  19. You inevitably cleared your browser cache when you were refreshing, hence the fix. BTW, this applies to any browser. In an effort to give the illusion of speed, browsers “cache” a frequented page so you don’t have to download every single component every time you visit. Eventually, the cache gets filled with different, conflicting versions of the same page, and it has difficulty displaying which component is current.

  20. @Monique – hi, just press “command” and “r” buttons at the same time to refresh ;)

  21. Goodmorning, MM. Out of topic. Just finished doing the gravlax. I used the Copper River salmon which just started coming in last week. Just a couple of pounds as expensive. Only thing is I cannot find white peppercorn here in Bellingham. This is the second time i have done the recipe without that. Hope bettyq can help me on this. Must remember to scrounge around in the groceries up North next time I cross over. I did fry the neck end and the tail end for my supper. Was melt in my mouth. Looking forward to the result in a day or two. Thanks for the recipe and tips, MM.

  22. I’m using Google Chrome and it’s okay. Prob a mix of factors.
Was at Salcedo Market this morning. Great, busy crowd. The stall people were in native costume so that added some ‘ambiance’ to the affair. The dance was excellent, we were actually on the way home but ended up staying for the whole performance – great skill and professionalism. What is the name of the group? Get them for future events!

  23. Fards: go to Galloway’s (Richmond or New West). They have every imaginable herbs and spices. I am a huge fan of coarse ground mixed peppercorns with chipotle peppers. That is my secret ingredient (no longer a secret!) when I make gravlax and my Indian Candy! Galloway’s is a one stop shopping for anything under the sun for you cooking and baking needs esp. those hard to find ingredients!…and no, I am not related to them nor have I worked for them!

  24. Fards, yes, you can substitute black peppercorns for white, the only difference really is that the peppercorns still have their “skins”… but when you do find white peppercorns, purchase a little bottle and keep it in your pantry… bettyq, will remember your tip the next time I make the gravlax… I wonder if you have ever tried it with szechuan peppercorns? :)

  25. Thanks, bettyq and MM. Yes, will be going to Richmond towards end of the month. But whereabouts is Galloway? I will just google it na lang. Will try that candied salmon too.
