Marketman in his Birthday Vilebrequin…

Today is my birthday, as several readers have kindly remembered, and have already started leaving greetings on previous posts, so many thanks to all of you! I am taking the rest of the day off from blogging… Nothing fancy is planned today, just a simple dinner at home, with a once-a-year Thomas Keller onion soup in the works (I made it last year for my birthday as well), some salmon in a potato crust and a green salad. And for Marketman’s birthday goody? A pair of Vilebrequin’s with orange octopus(es) or is it octopi? on a lime green background. I have been eyeing Vilebrequin’s for the past 20 or so years but couldn’t get myself to plonk down the increasingly outrageous prices they were asking for these chi-chi swimming trunks from the South of France. But a 70% off sale at itsie-bitsie at Rockwell a couple of weeks ago meant The Kid and Mrs. MM could acquire them with 70% less guilt. Heeheehee. If they are good enough for George Clooney to wear while driving his wooden speedboat on Lake Como (Vanity Fair), then they are good enough for me…heeheehee. With all of the rain we are experiencing this morning, I could probably swim to the grocery!

EL NIDO I’ve read that you have already been to coron palawan a couple of times already but you really must try visiting el nido , IT IS GREAT ,and to see the really beautiful secret beaches and reefs , i suggest you forgo the expensive resorts and just let Mr. bankero lead the way… happy birthday

  102. Unlike eels that are slippery if not shocking to catch, octopussies are elusive and stubborn in a different way. As soon as you get hold of a few of its tentacles the free ones hang on fast to rock crevices. The trick is to boink it on the head whereupon the tentacles will instinctively feel for its concussion in unison leaving you free to then pick up the bunched up handy parcel. Btw, your swimming shorts depicts the abbreviated six footed version found only along Côte d’Azur.
