It’s bazaar season again in Manila, and despite my panning the bazaar at the tent at the Fort last weekend, here are two bazaars which may be of interest to you… many thanks to reader Alexie for reminding me about these…
The Negros Fair at the Rockwell Tent. I rarely miss this bazaar which has so many goodies, that I always leave with several bags full. Unfortunately, I am out of town and may get to this bazaar late… I hope it doesn’t run out of the good stuff. It tarts tomorrow, 30 September and runs through the 5th of October. I am guessing they open at 11 am or so.
The Pink Kitchen. A bazaar for the benefit of breast cancer causes. I went to this last year, and despite my issues with their first event, I still think it is a worthy cause that deserves support. I hope they noticed some of the issues that cropped up last year and have figured out solutions to the crowding, lack of food, etc. October 18 – 19, also at the Rockwell Tent, go to this link for a list of participants…
Finally, here is your chance to plug a bazaar you may be participating in from now until Christmas. Please leave a short comment on the items you will be selling and at what bazaar and on what dates… think of this as Marketman’s public announcement service for readers who are also bazaar addicts. Happy shopping!

Thank you MM for giving us the opportunity to plug our activities: Please watch out for a Special Christmas Edition of the Philippine Furniture and Furnishings Fair that will run from Dec 13-21 at The Fort Global City, near NBC Tent. The event will showcase the best of Philippine Furniture and Furnishings Export products and items, proudly manufactured and hand-crafted by Philippine exporters. These items are rarely found in malls since they are made for the US and EU markets. This is our chance to partake of products of world-class design and quality craftsmanship at affordable prices. We hope to see you there! For details and queries, please call Joy or Sherly at 6312834.
Again, MM, thank you very much.
MM, that year-round bazaar at the Fort is really not worth the ticket. But not all bazaars are like that. The recent Global Pinoy Bazaar at Rockwell was a really good one that I always try to patronize. The bazaars in World Trade are often good, too, by virtue of the venue’s size. The American Women’s Bazaar held there is nice. In the past, I would also always try to go to the Casa y Jardin and Assumption bazaars. Of course, whether a bazaar is good or not greatly depends on what the particular shopper’s looking for. Most of them have few stalls men would be interested in, so I suspect that you would really only enjoy the food bazaars, like the two you mention above.
It’s so bizarre (bazaar? heh) but one of my long-time pseudo ambitions has been to sell stuff in a bazaar. Baked goods, export overruns … there’s something about the whole grassroots feel of running an operation from end to end I’ve always found appealing. Of course real life has taken over and I have to resort to buying in lieu of selling.
For the information of every one, the Negros Bazaar in the Powerplant tent opens at 10 in the morning until 9 in the evening. The entrance fee is P20 for everyone. Happy shopping everyone. Enjoy the goodies!!!!!!!
The Casa y Jardin bazaar is on October 9 at the Intercon Hotel, Makati and October 19h as per their Newspaper announcement. HAPPY SHOPPING EVERYONE!
hi everyone!!!! my aunt from bacolod sells bag organizers, shoe cases.etc at the negros bazaar. hope you’ll all buy from her..thanks!
Hi there! my friend bought a pair crocs last weekend at the fort. too bad, i was not able to buy for myself! MM, would you know who sells these stuffs? It’s cheap and original – only 900 php!
dahlgren….a word of caution about crocs…besides the fact that they are comfortable, there was a consumer alert issued here 1 or 2 years ago about the possible injuries that may arise from wearing them…sharp objects could go through the holes and poke your toes or feet unknowingly while you’re walking or gardening…esp for young kids or toddlers playing in sand boxes!
dahlgren, I recall my crocs being much more than PHP900, so it would surprise me if the crocs were original at that price… and bettyq, yes, there are detractors of the crocs for various reasons. I like mine, but only wear them at home/kitchen.
