  1. Yay! The password works! :)

Here’s my answer: I’m not a big fan of lechon, but if I do win and tasted Zubuchon, I might actually become a convert :)

  2. I was itching to just ask for the password from MM (seated nearby!) but how can I resist joining in the panic-fed frenzy? hahaha! Good luck everyone, see you at Zubuchon!

  3. i must have the 500 grams of chicharon (or 1 kilo lechon), it will be the last chicharon i will be eating for the next six months due to diet.:)

  4. its not that actually i love lechon but the Zubuchon itself,. i really wana go back to cebu just to taste the crack crispy skin of zubuchon! yum ! and m drooling now for the chicharon :(

  5. Yehey! I’m in! It took me a while to figure out the password. I’m glad to be part of this inner group. Hehehe :)

  6. I will be visiting Cebu along with my wife, daughter and her two friends. The first thing we will do is to find your place so that we could taste Zubuchon lechon.

  7. Yay got in!
Whenever I crave lechon, only Zubuchon will do..The red piggy rules for all of us “fools” :-))

  8. yay, it works….. and this post makes me salivate with tummy growling… Laksa really is at the bottom of the pit compare to this one.

  9. Why be embarrassed? love the game & fun of it!! no lechon for me ,count me out.gotta sleep,,good luck everyone.such a yummy posting.

  10. got the password… (thank God)…

I must have that free lechon…

Husband and I had a big fight last year… he only bought a kilo of Zubuchon… Gave him 2 pieces out of the kilo. Had a high blood cholesterol but worth it! Uber yummy even if it is rock hard cold!

  11. Haikuchon

    Zubuchon I love
Skin so crispy , crackling bites
    Touching tongues and hearts

  12. when we were “exhiled” after giving birth last November, one of the things that kept my sanity was reading your site. I was alone with my new born some place else for two months without anyone and access to food was like whatever in the backyard and the mini sari-sari store. And the only way I can access your site is when I can go online using my phone. ( which I am watching the bill for I am not sure then if I can go back to work) Dining with “de lata and noodles was no fun so what I do is just imagine the foods and receipes your posting and thinking I am eating them! ( that’s how we survived.. hehehehe.. so, does 2 months or so deprivation of good food counts??? )

  13. Yey, I feel like a kid once more belonging to a secret club!Even reminds me of Alibaba saying the magic word “Open Sesame”to open the door of the cave full of treasures! First treasure here:

ZUBUCHON—-Nang pumunta kami sa Cebu napa ZUBU kami sa pagkain ng masarap na leCHON!

    This is so much fun!

  14. Why must I have free lechon?
Because of this really bad haiku:

    A Cebu lechon
    Not Zubuchon! Tongue anguished
    Best is still a dream

    :)

  15. Can’t believe that i’m already the 16th commenter! would love to taste the zubuchon but i cannot make it to cebu for the next 3 months…hmmm.. would take the chicharon and dunk it in a steaming hot mongo soup (even if it is forbidden by my high uric and cholesterol count) so MM, make me a criminal! hahaha

  16. wow… feeling ko I’m like part of the “IN” crowd!!! hahaha…

Gimme, gimme that yummy, yummy, porky pig…

  17. It’s difficult to fall sleep when the last thing you browse on your screen is a yummy screenshot of lechon and chicharon!!! OK, I guess I will try counting flying Zubuchons until I…….zzzz zzzz ..oink..zzz

  18. Going on a fish/veggie diet to go back to Size 8. Afterwards, I will need the fat to lubricate my knees, fingers and other joints.

  19. I live overseas but in case I will win, I will give the prize to my mother. She is prohibited from eating meat because of her kidney problem but gets to eat whatever she wants a day before her dialysis. Zubuchon Chicharon will be a nice treat for her! *more than 30 words :-)*

  20. just had to comment on that first picture…i can smell the lechon all the way to davao! this is torture, MM!

  21. yay! sorry, exceeded 30 words… guess i’m disqualified. :( just got too excited with the password thinghy and chicharon…. :)

  22. Zubuchon or chicharon, so that with every bite, my 76 y/o mom can forget about triglycerides and simply savor each delicious morsel. would love for her to know she’s eating “the best pig ever”.

  23. the password is well worth the effort, don’t be embarrassed! now as for the chicharon…
i’m going home by september. 1st on the list is cebu (from pampanga) just so i can treat the entire family to Zubuchon! everything is planned. :)

  24. Being an avid MM reader, I have witnessed the evolution of zubuchon and have highly recommended it to my friends and relatives in cebu. They love zubuchon, but I, have never had the chance to try it :-(

  25. My two lolas, ages 86 and 84, are Zubuchon fans, having tasted it during a trip to Cebu. When people ask them about the secret to long life, they readily answer: baboy! True story :)

  26. MM, it’s not nakakahiya at all!! we all had good fun, and personally i would still have worked on the password challenge even if you just said that the blog was going on an altered frequency or something. i so appeciate your efforts to share what you know. and more than lechon, i love the posts on plants flowers –bougainvillea being my favorite!

as for my answer, what is two-fold bilbil (mine) to others is COMFORT PILLOW to my four kids, from my eldest (18) to my youngest (10).To deflate it is to cause them sad faces! i have recently cut down on rice, and the PILLOW is in danger of deflating !!
Zubuchon lechon or chicharon would simply be the tastiest way to help keep their smiles up!!
A noble task for Zubuchon, if you ask me : )

  27. I absolutely, positively must have a kilo of Zubuchon because It’s Cebu’s most raved about Lechon! :D. Hope that does it :D

  28. Suffering from withdrawal symptoms after enjoying Zubuchon many times during a vacation. The frozen kilo from the pre-departure lounge didn’t last long. Wearing a Zubuchon cap to quell cravings. Help?

  29. Mirror Mirror on the wall….who is the crispiest of them all?
Zubuchon is the crispiest and tastiest of them all!!!

It was all fun…..rumpelstiltskin ….skyfall and all!!!

    Terry

  30. I want to marry you MM! :) But since it’s not possible, I will settle for some lechon. I will pick it up in Cebu :)

  31. Why should I win?!?! because it’s my birth right….my full name says it all…maria jennifer “ZUBU” chon…would you like to see my birth certificate?! no wonder i love lechon… =)

  32. I would love a kilo of zubuchon since my husband just came back from Saudi last year and we’re expecting an addition to the family. It would be a great experience to our newest family member to sample Zubuchon eventhough he/she is still on my womb! She/He will be an instant Zubunatic! :-)

  33. the password works.. all those hardwork! i want that kilo of zubuchon as a reward for the successful sleuthing i just did to crack the password. :)

  34. Funny… I’ve no need for the free Zubuchon…yet… and have no contacts that I could give said kilo of what I am sure would be a wonderful lechon. I just wanted to say, more games!!! I love them… plus I haven’t commented in quite a while! Planning on a trip in February, and stopping by one of the restaurants. Can’t wait!

  35. I absolutely must have the lechon or the chicharon to have a first-hand experience of what they taste like. Just seeing the photos is not good enough!!

  36. I like the creative “ultimatum”, so I’m throwing my hat in the ring… acronym-style.

    LECHON
Like Eating Crunchy Hogs? Oh No!

    CHICHARON
Can Healthy Individuals Comprehend Having Awesome Rinds, Or Not?

  37. I should win a kilo of zubuchon because I was once a “CNT” fan. Since I tasted your Zubuchon, I don’t go to SM Cebu anymore, but to Mango Square instead.

  38. Hi MM, must win the lechon because after following your blog for more than 5 years now, this is my first time to post, i love eating lechon and the baby in my tummy wants it too:) hehe :)

Getting the password is so much fun! :)

  39. Cause I pointed you to the youtube clip of Bourdain sampling the Indonesian version of lechon :). Real reason though? Chicharon is my all-time favorite pop-in-my-mouth snack … one after the other, lol. I’m abroad though … so that’s just too bad. Maybe my bro in Manila can get them for me … oh yeah, he’s flying into town real soon too! Would love to get a taste of your best-roast-pig ever but there’s just no way right now.

    Crossing my finger, hehe.

  40. Dear MM, I will gladly trade a bikini-ready body for sinful chicharon. Drooling over the Zubuchon pics, but Cebu is sadly not in the cards for me any time soon.

  41. I just came back from Bali & tried the babi guling Anthony Bourdain recommended. It couldn’t compete. As I was eating it, I was wishing it was sinful Zubuchon instead.

But since a trip to Cebu is unlikely, I would love to try your chicharon. I love Carcar-style chicharon (the non-commercial ones with hardly any labels are still the best for me), but I’ve never bought one outside Cebu because it’s never as good as when I get it there.

  42. Dear MM! i am big fan!

Your blog inspired me during my bar exams preparations last year. You made smile each day. Now, as a lawyer, reading you keeps me sane!

  43. as i was able to read this, i know that i got your password correctly. really drooling over the lechon pics.

  44. So happy I got the correct password! Don’t know what I’ll do if I can’t access your blog – been reading it either first thing in the morning or before I hit the sack.

I’m a diehard Zubuchon lechon fan since the beginning when it was only available at the airport. I even asked friends and colleagues who were Cebu-bound to buy a pack for me.

  45. We failed to visit your Mango branch due to time constraints because we were in a hurry to complete the Lakbay Jose Rizal @ 150 heritage tour. Next time, it will be first in our itinerary!

  46. I am a Bond convert thanks to your 007 obsession ;) [Am now hunting for the older movies to watch!] I can be a chicharon convert too if I get to taste that Zubuchon chicharon! ;D

  47. my daughter loves chicharon and we were lucky to taste a pack of zubuchon last march before flying back to manila. also, she helped me find the password letters.

  48. yoooo! I’m in! Tried the frozen lechon when mom went. to Cebu… Pls let me try the chicharon

  49. I never really liked Lechon but I’ve been a follower since reading about that darn little kingfisher that hit your glass pane. Lechon lover I may not be but MarketManila loyalist I am and will always be. Does LBC accept frozen sisig wrapped in multiple layers of old newspapers? Hahaha Chicharon will do if I’m chosen..

  51. Why must I have a kilo of Zubuchon?

I shied away from eating chicharon and only eat a few pieces of lechon since I have embraced a healthier lifestyle. But once I get my hand on a Zubuchon, definitely all deals are off and I will devour the best pig ever with 2-3 platitos of rice. :)

  52. The only time I won anything was at a “perya” near our house in Tondo when I was 8 or 9 y.o. I won a drinking glass / tumbler at one of those 25-centavo games (scams) that were so popular back then. It would be nice to win something again (2nd time in my life, if ever, fingers crossed, YAY!). I’ll be turning 43 this year.

  53. Password access is prize enough! All my living relatives in the Phils are over 80 and on restricted diets…although maybe a bit of baboy would prolong their lives. My mother turned 89 this week and did have a lechon for her party (sadly not a Zubuchon, she lives in the Metro and just got a local – ie inferior – type. Anyway, she seemed quite happy just looking at it.

  54. That was fun…but i’m sure it would be twice as fun going on a password hunt while munching on hot, fresh, and crispy zubuchon LOL

  55. whenever I long
    for a home cooked meal,
thoughts of the Red Pig seals the deal…
    with Sydney so far away
dreaming of Zubuchon always makes my day.

28 words!!! chicharon for my loveys in dumaguete :))

  56. This is over the required number of words, but I just have to profess my love for this pig and his creator! I actually just came from my first Cebu trip. I ate at not one, but two Zubuchon branches in the same day, just 3 hours apart from each “feeding time” (how appropriately farm animal-like of me), consuming a total of one kilo of lechon with just two companions. I didn’t think it was possible to fall in love with a pig, but I have indeed! Your lechon is the most handsome and delicious plate of pig I’ve ever met, bearing the perfect proportion of skin, fat, and meat on each plate. Eaten with the Five Pork Fried Rice and I knew it was love, although of the forbidden kind! Thank you for making an awesome lechon (and a beautiful guava jelly that I beg you to sell in Manila!). Now if only I could take piggy home to meet Mom :)

  57. My 4 friends and I went to Cebu for 3 days last year. Of our 7 meals there, 4 were at Zubuchon. Bitin lang dahil di namin natikman yung chicharon ;)

  58. It seems I am number 66. Which is a magic number, I don’t know why, but I feel it that way.
Never say never to a delicious lechon.

And a martini, shaken not stirred as an aperitif, hmmmmmmm, sarap!!

  59. Pork que?

Because without pork, it’s not worth porking out ( i.e. gorging on pork) nor porking (i.e. to have vigorous sexual intercourse).

  60. I hardly write a comment but I never miss any post. I love your blog, mm

    We don’t call it pork/lechon, we call…deliciousness!!!

  61. my zubu-silog combos, perfect for any time of the day:

    lechsilog
    chichasilog
    pritchsilog
    sisigsilog
    stuffpusilog
    AND
    patasilog (good for sharing!)

  62. Gusto ko ng chicharon, sayang lang ang iniinom kong Lipitor ko kung wala naman akong cholesterol sa katawan!

  63. Lifted from my comment from your post 13 January 2011:

    2. Bearhug0127 says:
    Gotta have chicharon!!!!!!

    Jan 13, 2011 | 2:11 pm

  64. “I’m on a strict vegan diet
due to a very tight budget
but on a promise of Zubuchon
I will eat my words and the lechon.”

or the chicharon for that matter, hahaha.

  65. i will win this lechon because im treating my family to a trip to cebu this july!
Yey to the first family trip together after having college-tuition-fees-first mantra for so long. Yey! Plus we are bisayang dagku! haha

  66. No chance for the “best lechon ever” because I am from Sta. Rosa, Laguna, but I am taking a chance for the best zubuchon chicharon. ;)

  67. after watching MM featured at jessica soho show that day i became a follower of this blog.. i’m hoping that the next time i’ll come to cebu my first stop will be on the nearest zubuchon branch… =)) hope i can be able to see you in person MM and have a picture with you and a kilo of zubuchon =))

  68. Hi, MM!! Searching for the best Chicharon here in Manila is becoming a challenge. But I’m sure that your Chicharon will not disappoint and will end my search :))

THANKS A LOT!!!!! :) Looking forward to tasting theeeem. :)

  69. I figured out the password this morning, and was almost late for work…not joining the contest (won’t be home in 4months! and no one to give the prize to just in case) …but good luck to everyone!

I’d like to share though, when we went to Cebu last September, we ate almost everyday at Zubuchon (a few times at the Mango Branch and once at the Escario branch). We had Zubuchon, ALOT, Lechon Sinigang, Ginisang Monggo with Lechon, the 5 pork rice, lechon sisig, and the glorious old school Adobo as well as the Iba shake :) ….and then we stayed at Casa Escano…and the whole experience was just awesome, even if it was raining most of the time, and we didn’t get to go to the wonderful beaches.

  70. Yehey! I got the password and am in!!!!

Why I have to have 1 kilo of zubuchon? I come from a lechon-eating family. We will find an excuse to get-together to eat and 9 times out of 10, there will always be lechon!!!!

  71. definitely got the password right !…….i’m so happy right now that i don’t mind not getting free zubuchon :)

  72. I need a delicious lipsmackingly tasty and mindblowingly crunchy surprise for my wife on our upcoming 9th anniversary. I honestly couldn’t think of anything more appropriate. ZUBUCHON means LOVE… hahaha

  73. Love your site, MM. Win or lose, I will be in Cebu on May 2 and will make a trip to one of your outlets to savor some of that good lechon-world’s best!

  74. whoa…Ssooooo many POSTS already!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I thought I’d never make it–so bad with puzzles like these….. Risked getting fired at work to get the password. Yes, first class IS nice…

  75. i adore lechon! last year i flew to cebu for a day just to try zubuchon. it didn’t disappoint at all!

  76. When Zubuchon hit the airport, I coaxed the first friend flying in to buy me a kilo. I was even willing to retrieve it at NAIA. Must. Have. Again.

  77. chicharon
    please come to
    Rome
    para dili ko
    hidlawon

ps. if i win, my Phil rep will send/ship it to me ; )

  78. I’m among the first class readers yey! good thing I figured out the p/w lol

I’ve been a ovo-lacto vegetarian for over a decade now and being away from home, I have no access to Filipino food. I don’t cook either. Reading your blog gives me the pleasure of savoring food from my childhood, albeit through my imagination as I browse through your photos. If I choose a single day to go back to eating meat, your Zubuchon lechon and chicharon will be the first in my list. I appreciate how much work you’ve done to perfect them. It would be worth the lapse from my dietary restriction :-)

  79. Zubuchon is in the top five of my bucket list, very much intrigued about it’s taste, I live in LA & can just drool & dream about it:)

  80. i made it! i was all set to rest, but i realized i have to figure the password for your secret posts. i wouldn’t forgive myself if i let this pass and miss out. i’m so happy i’m here

i’ve been traveling all over the country, and i believe one good way to have sense of the place is through its food. cebu is one of my favorite destinations, and i’d love to know more about it through your lechon

  81. i got it…eating at zubuchon will be the highlight of my coming trip to cebu this may…from toronto to manila to cebu…i’ve waited for years…yum yum..wish i could sneak some back to toronto…zubuchon here i come…

  82. Hay salamat i got the password! :)

Went on a diet in hopes of conceiving. Lost 20lbs. Difficult pregnancy. Just gave birth. Would love to indulge in some lechon/chicharon. :)

  83. Yay! Password worked! Anyway, I was able to try zubuchon once, so I’m actually more interested in the chicharon! ;-)

  84. ahhhhh…!! I know salivating will not make me win, but i want it so bad.. will share it with my hubby who loves lechon.

  85. I should’ve guessed that without going through all the posts! haha But, where’s the fun in that? hehe

No chance of me getting the Zubuchon though. It was fun! Nice touch with the anagram! :)
You should’ve invited Daniel Craig to have some Zubuchon when he was here! NOW….that would be some story to tell! ;)

  86. Whew! Password worked! I Haven’t tasted the lechon and I can’t go to Cebu so the chicaron can be a very very special treat.

  87. Nothing to be apologetic about. I root for anything that brings out the tacit admirer lurking solo entre las sombras. Or any device to swell the ranks of regular readers and frustrates further apoplectic contrarians.

  88. i could not get to cebu fast enough, so i had a friend look for zubuchon stall at the airport. she gave me a bunch of other choices, but it was zubuchon or nothing for me. =) it tasted wonderful re-heated but i imagined it would be better eaten in cebu. i will be booking my flight very soon!

  89. You have caught me several times (twice in one week) on your CCTV having lunch at Mango. I’ve even done take-out several times.

How can I resist the best tasting lechon in the world!!!

And that my friend is why I deserve a kilo of zubuchon. ;-)

P.S. The doctor says your zubuchon is the fountain of youth. I will not grow old! hahaha

  90. I got the password! Zubuchon chicharon na lang for me if ever I win, MM. I live far from Cebu.

  91. I should have the free lechon because, I talked about it to anybody I know who is going back to the Phil. and I asked everybody I know who lives in Cebu to taste it for me + I always dream about it!

  92. Can’t wait to retire early and hopefully have a similar MM lifestyle (though might not be able to afford a beach house :)). Leave all this winter hassle behind and I don’t have to check the weather everyday ever again! Now, where did I put that lottery ticket…haha Dream on.. I could almost taste that distinct lechon fat in my mouth and that crisp lechon skin crunching with every bite…

  93. Not a Bond fan so I had to dig hard to figure out the password. Good to know I’m an insider now. :)

  94. Zubuchon products have taken up prime, and i mean PRIME real-estate in my luggage and freezer. Think budget airline and shoebox-sized apartment in HK. So worth it. :)

  95. Password works! Perfect timing, I will be in PI for two weeks maybe I could get some of the famous Zubuchon and will be “Next to Heaven”.

  96. The lechon prize I will give to my OFW folks vacationing this summer from Saudi Arabia. Two years of no pork and thousand of miles away from the family, don’t you think they deserve to get the world’s best Zubochon? :)

Plus if I win, I will book them tickets to Cebu just to eat the lechon prize in mango ave, be there an airline promo or none.

  97. I’ve been craving for Zubuchon since “No Reservation” days but I am a 6′ tall quadriplegic due to Spinal Cord Injury and I need at least 2 other people to be able to travel all the way to Cebu.. besides, accessibility for People With Disabilities are barely available not only in Cebu but all over the country so it wouldn’t be easy for me.

PS. In case I win, I’ll go for the chicharon. :D

  98. Zubuchon=quintessential lechon in my book. Crispy skin, flavorful meat. And great crew!!!
Hay, wish I were back in Cebu right now. That first pic is making me hungry!
Glad I had enough time to sort through your clues before I leave for work :)

  99. My husband and I flew to Cebu try zubuchon after Anthony Bourdain said it was the best. Zubuchon was indeed zubzarap and we left Cebu zubuzog. Now we want to try the zicharon :)

  100. I am not a fan of lechon, but for Zabuchon
    I will eat lechon.

But since I am not in Cebu
Can I trade the lechon for chicharon?

(The poet in me in coming out!)

  101. Was in Cebu last November and I keep beating myself for forgetting to try Zubuchon. I just want to try it MM. I’ll be happy with the chicharon too ;-)

  102. “dili para nako, para kang hubby ug baby. ganahan kaayo sila sa crunchy, maong MUST TASTE ang ZUBUCHON chicharon from CEBU B!” — bisdak kaayo :)

  103. We absolutely, positively must have a kilo of zubuchon because…it’s DELICIOUS, SUSTAINABLE, ECO-FRIENDLY food from an ENVIRONMENTALLY- and SOCIALLY-RESPONSIBLE company! Woohoo! :)

  104. I am sure if Zubuchon was just an hour away, hubby would love to have the kilo of lechon! He would be healed instantly of whatever ails him right now!! He has become one of your followers since we ate and visited the 1 Mango…

Since I am abroad, will send the chicharon to my nephew in Manila.

  105. Flying to Cebu on may 8 for a meeting, win or lose I’m dropping by again at mango ave. Brought home 2 kilos lechon the last time, will dine in this time.

  106. Having five packs of zubuchon’s lovely chicharon on hand would absolutely be perfect right after our biggest loser “office edition” final weigh-in on April 30, 2012.

  107. I absolutely, positively must eat a kilo of zubuchon because…it’s DELICIOUS, SUSTAINABLE, ECO-FRIENDLY food from an ENVIRONMENTALLY- and SOCIALLY-RESPONSIBLE company! Woohoo! :)

  108. I now live in Poland, where hams and sausages abound. I do want the Poles how our lechon and chicharon do justice to the Red Pig :-)

  109. Hi MM,

I truly deserve the one (1) kilo zubuchon, at least to offset my mobile internet cost since I’m hooked up with you blog. Its so addicting I can’t wait to check out for new post, when internet is free. haayyy…

    Thanks

  110. So far I only read posts here in this blog. Hoping to have a chance to finally taste Market Man’s actual product. :)

  111. Just started travelling around the Philippines (in my 20+ or so years of existence in the archipelago) and ZUBUCHON is the number 1 reason why I want to visit Cebu. :)

  112. Whew! Yipee, i got it! Thanks MM. Came straight here without reading this post yet.

  113. I’ve managed to lower my LDL and triglycerides level over the past year – can’t think of a better indulgence!

  114. My husband and I have been having JB marathon(starting with Dr. No) with his parents this past few weekends… We’ve just finished The Living Daylights last Sunday. Would be awesome(r? hehe…) with a bag or two (or three) of zubuchon chicharon! Too bad we’re not in the Philippines.

  115. Why do I need to eat lechon? :-) Do it now while you can – one of my mottos ;-). Just what Mr. Bourdain said, Philippine Cebu lechon is the best… and my daughter loves her sinigang with chicharon on the side. We will definitely get the Zubuchon lechon and chicharon in May when we come home.

  116. Thanks to Bond and Bourdain now we’re in MM with a password and a Zubochon chance to boot.

So let’s see who gets to win and enjoy MM’s “loot”.

  117. I live in Northern California and would be a challenge to get your lechon or chicharon. However, my family in the Philippines would appreciate it i am sure. I am just happy to be a part of this very interactive group and learn a lot from your posts and other members’ posts. Thankyou for all that you do. Win or not I am an MM aficionado.

  118. * why do i need a kilo of lechon – because we’ll be in cebu on last week of july to celebrate our birthdays.

  119. One solution to the late night protests of my tummy for a midnight snack: marketmanila.com
    Pictures palang busug na!

Now, chicharon delivered to my doorstep?! That would be a dream!!

  120. I’ve got two preschoolers whose favorite food are lechon and chicharon. Therefore,
Best Pig Ever : Best Mom Ever!

There should be bonus points for delurking :P

  121. I followed your diet to normalize my Triglycerides and Cholesterol. Now that the numbers are fine. I think I deserve a kilo of lechon.

  122. Can’t believe I almost forgot that today was The day :o

Just relieved to beat the deadline.

  123. For a piece of crisp lechon skin, I will play to win. For a piece of tender lechon cheek, I will not be meek. For the roasted crunchy tail, I shall not fail. For a kilo of free Zubuchon, I must put my game face on. If I shall not win, I shall drown my sorrows in gin.

I will be in Cebu with family on May 3 to 6. Win or lose (or in some Facebook status updates that I read; win or loose. Ouch) we will have a meal or two in Zubuchon.

  124. got the password!!! whew!!!

just like you, i’m a big fan of 007… and i need to maintain my ala-James Bond physique… to add, my cholesterol level is down, and i NEED a kilo of zubuchon to pull up the numbers… it would boost my blood pressure numbers to more than 140/100 mm/Hg… a couple of packs of chicharon would also make me a happy camper… :)

  125. I need to win, so I can give my Mother the best gift ever for Mother’s day. She’s never a materialistic person, and she loves to cook. I want her to not cook for the rest of the family on Mother’s day and enjoy ZUBUCHON for the first time.

  126. Had so much fun doing this :-D Here goes my less-than-30-words poem!

Zubuchon, Zubuchon, ang world class na lechon!
Mga Pinoy subo lang kahit magmukhang kutson :-D
Please lang po akin na lang isang kilong lechon…
Pwede rin kahit sangkatutak na chicharon! ;-)

  127. i have tried this during our EB, and i really love it!!! was guilty , because i wasn’t able to share it with my brothers and their family..if you give me a kilo, we’ll share it together during our sunday lunch.

  128. So of course, I still had to check this post, despite my friend waiting for me, because I was excited to use the password! :-D I’d love to eat Zubuchon again, but won’t be in Cebu soon. And I am not fond of chicharon. So I will just let another reader who would appreciate it more get the chance. Just want to say I think you are so generous, MM, for having this raffle. And I am SO glad to be one of your loyal readers! :-)

  129. @Jonathan, sounds like me. Rewarding myself a dish of crackling pork hocks for spite whenever I get a clean bill of health from my cardiologist .

  130. Wow! Andami na nag-comment!
Let the lechon “hunger games” begin!

My reason to want a kilo of lechon: because MM respects the pig through his cooking. And I love lechon! Omnomnom!

(“Omnomnom” counts as one onomatorpeic word. Hehe! :-)

  131. i’m not into lechon, but i’m a chicharon addict… i use it in almost all my cooking as it brings a different flavor to the dishes that i cook :)

  132. never been to cebu but eating zubuchon lechon is my agenda if i can go there someday.if this will be given to me free so much better and appreciate it very much.

  133. If you need a representative to “check” that lechon for you or the winners, I will gladly volunteer. Might need more than 1Kg, baka di malasahan sa 1st kilo eh.

  134. im not really expecting to win with all the so many good answers from ur commenters but im really hoping to be chosen…since i was diagnosed to have SLE with so many complications..i told my husband and family that i really wanted to have a taste of Mr. MM’s Zubuchon before anything fatal happens. Unfortunately, we could not afford yet because every single penny goes to my medical expenses.

  135. ZUBUCHON, the tastiest, healthiest, greatest, yummy, best pig ever, Eating lechon, Chicharon is more fun in Cebu.

  136. Had fun searching for the password :-)

I MUST have 500 grams of chicharon (though i would really prefer a kilo of lechon) while my cholesterol and triglycerides are still in its normal levels : D

  137. Havent been to Cebu but If I could win any of the above, I could experience even a part of Cebu cause Zubuchon I think is a Cebu tradition and I wanna experience that tradition.

  138. that was fun MM!! hehe Perfect timing!!! I haven’t visited your blog in weeks cause I’ve been very busy

  139. Zubuchon looks soooo good, I can’t wait to actually have my first Zubu … Instead of just imagining a zubu!

  140. Yessss!!!! Just being a part of the MM virtual family is prize enough. I’m not a Small, never been to Cebu and never eaten a Zubuchon. But hoping someday, I will be a Small again:), make it to Cebu and feast on Zubuchon.

  141. The piggies, they’re a-roastin’
    Skin, crunchin’ and toastin’
My lips are smackin’ and droolin’
    Quick! Dash! Rush!
By DHL, Fedex, or Johnny Air
Ship me my dreams, lest I despair!

  142. Firstly, being able to access this post is a prize itself. I would never be able to forgive myself if I would not be able to read your blog and miss out on those mouthwatering food pics.

I have never tried Zubuchon and that is rather disappointing. I plan to visit Cebu sometime soon and the red pig is definitely going to be first in the itinerary.

  143. been dreamin’ about Zubuchon (I wish…I wish you’ll soon have a branch here in Manila)

  144. oh my god!!!!!!lechon is my absolute favorite!!!my mom would always buy every time she’d go to baclaran since that was the only lechonan near our house!!!and ever since my dad ordered one from cebu i never forgot that distinctive taste!!!iba tlga!!!
and now that i cant have that same taste on any other lechon i dont eat it na lang….
grabe, marketman i didnt think i’d crack your password..good thing i read the rest of the comments this morning!!whew!!!btw,i’ve been a silent lurker here on your site…more power!!

  145. Lechon, chicharon,
    basta Zubuchon,
    kahit alin dun,
    yes ang tugon!

    Oink, oink, wink, wink!

I had a fun break at work figuring out the password.
Always fun in Marketmanila I say!

  146. wow! this must be one of the most visited page! twas fun trying to figure out the password.
i actually have a kilo of zubuchon lechon in the fridge at a hotel in eastwood that i asked my cousins from Oz to buy for me on their way back to manila from shang mactan. i forced them to go to the islandstay branch two nights ago to try the lechon and buy a kilo for me. Note that most of these guys dont eat pork but were prevailed upon by me to try it (via facetime). they loved it!!! will be in Manila tomorrow to finally try the lechon.
    cheers MM!

  147. I’m an avid fan of yours and I got the password right, and I haven’t eaten lechon for several years already. Going back to Cebu this July for our class silver jubilee.

  148. The thought of not being able to read MM’s blog was a nightmare, but I got the password!!!

  149. Hello MM.. I’m so happy I was able to figure out the password, my brains was about to overheat.. hahaha..

    BTW.

I love to savor the lechon because I also hail from Cebu City, any true blue foodie would attest to that, yikes I’m at the bottom comments.. wish I had chance of winning.. *prays*

  150. Going home to Manila from Vancouver this June! My sister and I are already booked for Cebu just to visit Zubuchon. It would be nice to bring home some zubuchon lechon for my hubby to try! Can’t wait!!!

  151. I deserve to win at the very least a bag of zubuchon chicharon for my efforts to go thru your archives and figure out the password at 130 am and the fact that I am not a James Bond aficionado! :) So the 1/2 k of chicharon would be very much worth the calories!

  152. “Because zubuchon, especially when shared among friends and family, makes #itmorefuninthephilippines”

:) Great blog. This indeed made me a follower :)

  153. Got it!!!! i have to try your lechon and iam a chef i am really busy and i have no time to go to cebu… i was able to try your lechon but it was just a left over from a friend who bought from the airport in cebu…that was 3 years ago :( i can settle for chicharon instead if not the lechon.

  154. enjoying regional food is my way of knowing my country and our varied cultures better — whooped in delight finding piyanggang manok at mercatto recently, after almost a decade of wishing i could go to sulu! and your recent takway post made me long for bacolod yet again. i won’t be going to cebu within the next 3 months so zubuchon shall remain a dream for now…although not for too long, i hope!

  155. that was fun. i really had to do it. take a breather and solve your puzzle! where do you get these ideas? love it!

    NOW to the Lechon,
I miss lechon ! No matter where we get it from here in nyc/jersey, still does not taste right!
This is just like trying to win the previous $600+ million lotto, all you need is a dollar and
a dream. so with this, all i need to do is a write a line, and dream ;-) …eyes are closed now….

  156. Because I said so! I want the goddamn pig! Need a grumpy and hungry stomach explain further?!! (what a bratty reason, I know! :P)

(Postscipt: YAYAYAY I made it here!)

  157. MM, MM I am sick,
    Give me Zubuchon very quick,
    Lechon, chicharon will I die?
No my foodie do not cry.

(Anything for a Zubuchon lechon or chicharon)

  158. Mouthwatering! I haven’t tasted any of your products yet MM, but come December 2012, I will visit your Mango branch, along with all my lapulapu clan and eat all the lechon and chicharon all I want! :)

  159. That plate of lechon looks sooooooo inviting. One of these days, I will get to taste it! Sana nandiyan din si Footloose…At any rate, I am soooooo HAPPY AND CONTENTED with my PLATINUM AWARD!!!!! …..beats my cake award and blue ribbons any day! Thanks, MM!!!!!

  160. Travelled around the world to taste a fresh Zubuchon; that day store ran out of lechon.
Luckily Kamias shake made the trip delightful; but still, the goal is Zubuchon.

  161. Yey i got it right! I will be going back home from Dubai in May for a much needed vacation. The last time I was home was 2 years ago at syempre ano ba ang nami miss bukod sa friends and family, walang iba kundi pagkain. I’d love to visit Cebu but it’s too far from my hometown in Quezon province. Baka po pwede kahit yung chicharon ;-) more power MM!

Yipes! More than 30 words na :-(

  162. At dahil gumugol ako ng walumpu’t limang minuto ng buhay ko para alamin ang password, hindi ko pa ba maituturing sapat ang isang kilo ng Zubuchon Lechon bilang aking papremyo? :D

  163. Yes, Mr. Bond (aka Mr. MM), you’ve got a lot of fans out here and I’m one of them.
That was fun. You should do this again and more often. It made me read some posts that I missed.
I will do this just for the fun of it even without zubuchon or chicharon at the end of the stick.

  164. I’m happy enough that I made it in, BUT a Zubuchon freebie would make me incandescently happy because of all that glistening greasy goodness. :)

  165. For my siblings in the Philippines: To let them know I miss them and my love for them is just as delicious and fattening (if not more) as the Lechon.

  166. i hope to win the chicharon or lechon as my children didn’t want me to get hold of their ipad, afraid it might end up like the apple logo. i almost take a bite of my laptop monitor the moment i saw the most alluring photos of lechon posted here hahaha. being in the middle east, you could imagine my cravings now. end of next month we will be in manila yippeeee and first thing i would ask my nanay is whether they have my price with them. if only cebu is near and easily accesible to us next day after our arrival i will be there hahaha. anyways, hats off to marketmanila it’s very evident many enjoyed the trail in seeking a password ala da vinci code. after many months or years of being a simple follower it made me came out of the cocoon and made my very first post here. i love and enjoyed reading all your articles but today i enjoyed being a part of it. more power !!!

  167. hello. im happy i made it in your password protected blog. i was so worried i would not be able to read ur blogs anymore!!!! anyway im here. i wanna win some too. we will be in Pinas for two weeks some time august so i wish have a try of the zubuchon im drooling of for years now……

  168. Because I’m eager to taste the lechon from Cebu, with Love. You only live twice so why be an octopussy when the world is not enough to fill my want for the zubuchon cooked by the man with the golden kawayan. If I can’t have my zubuchon, I’ll use my licence to kill and scare the living daylights out of my Dr.No who said pork is for my eyes only. But I say live and let me die in quantum solace. Zubuchon is forever.

  169. When Bond falls from the sky and lands on my yard, I’ll want him to stay longer.
I will serve and tempt him with the zubuchon. An irresistable treat!

  170. MM I a sure you know how this is sung — but > 30 words, hahaha. Just for fun , since I and a whole bunch of fans had ALL the time in the world to look for clues to the password
We want all the pork in the world
If a pound is all you have
    We need nothing more
Every piece of lechon will please us
With the cares of the wolrd far behind us
We want all the pork in the world
Nothing more, nothing less – Zubuchon !!

And now for the Iggy Pop version
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cF3gCuusNJs&feature=related

  171. Yay password! I was so worried when I was looking up the clues because it did not look like a word. And then I read the last clue and saw that the letters were jumbled! *whew*

    It has been two months
    since I last ate chicharon.
    Now, here’s a contest!

(Yikes. At least you have a ton of comments, MM!)

  172. I visit Cebu a few times a year because I have relatives there, but for some reason I never get to stop by Zubuchon and eat. Last time I tried Zubuchon at a friend’s house, the skin had already been wiped out by other people. Hahaha! It was good nevertheless. One day, I’d like to be able to eat it (and share it) while it’s intact. ;p

  173. THIS! THIS! This is the reason why I’ve been eating tons of veggies for the past few months! To make way for this upcoming world-famous lechon freebie! :)

  174. I really wanted to eat the Zubuchon chicharon :) I wonder how delicious and unique it is ever since I read it here. If only cebu is one jeepney away, I’ll have it regularly :)

  175. My mother, who passed away in 2008, shared your website to me before she got really sick. Since then, I’ve been hooked. I really need that 1 kilo of lechon to honor her death and celebrate her life. :)

  176. Since winning a kilo of lechon gives me greater chances than winning the lotto! :)
I am also currently on a low carb diet and i assure you marketmanthat your prize will definitely be greatly appreciated:)

  177. My triglycerides are high and my doctor is threatening me with meds. I NEEEEED some chicharon for my “last supper” before I temporarily stop eating my beloved fried pork products!

  178. MM, I just retired from the US Military and moved to Cebu, just to be near Zubuchon! ok, my wife actually brought me here..hehehe, I need a kilo of Zubuchon so I can watch my mother in law protect it like a pack of wild dogs! Every time I buy a lechon and the relatives come over…watch out, mama not let you even get close to taking some home!

  179. Hello MM! This was really fun! Have always enjoyed reading your posts. Very informative yet fun to read.
Am happy to figure out the password:). I am hoping i could win a kilo of zubuchon lechon so that my family would be ZUBUSogally happy when we go visit cebu.

  180. Looking forward to enjoying future password protected posts in the future!

Winning the lechon/chicharon would be an added bonus though because I never won anything online before.

  181. Gusto ko ng ZUBUCHON LECHON at ZUBUCHON CHICHARON dahil gusto ko ng PAMPABATA! :)

Love this game MM! You truly hit the spot! Way to go!

  182. Whew ….. didn’t leave the office till I got the password!!

Although I have no plans to visit Cebu just yet, here’s why I absolutely, positively MUST have a kilo of lechon (or 500 grams of chicharon):

Although your DR says “NO!! ” because lechon has LICENSE TO KILL, THE WORLD IS NOT ENOUGH without it!! YOU ONLY LIVE TWICE so let’s just LIVE AND LET DIE!!!

    Mabuhay ang Zubuchon!!

  183. Lechon is a comfort food for me. When I eat lechon it always remind me of all the happy celebrations that our family had where in lechon has always been a part of. A feast is not complete without lechon. And Zubuchon Lechon and Chicharon is the best in Cebu :)

  184. Tnx MM for a mind stimulating morning. I need that kilo of lechon because I did not get to buy that kilo in your airport branch because it was out of stock. :)

  185. I could be the 224th commenter! I got to have that chicharon since it might be gone. The lechon, next time, when I go to Cebu. BTW, the print on your chicharon will look good on a white t shirt.

  186. Virtual lechon and chicharon photos are the closest I can get to eating these porcine delights. Secondhand tastings from readers leave me wanting these oinky treats! I pray. I eat. I love.

  187. I am not a big fan of James Bond movies, I absolutely have no chance of going to Cebu in the next 3 months, but I will love to a have a taste of your famous Chicharon!

  188. I purchased zubuchon lechon the last time we were in cebu way back in december 2010. Since then, I’ve been waiting for a chance to be back in cebu to taste it again, and a free kilo of zubuchon would be a bonus!

  189. Winning the Zubuchon will give me another excuse to bring the family to Cebu for a much needed vacation…

  190. I am a lurker but coming out of silence to get free lechon especially since my family is going to Cebu next week for vacation. What better timing! And I am late for office because I had to crack the password. :)

  191. I eat mostly vegetables in Baguio where I reside. So I deserve some steak, crabs, Angus burger, and of course ZUBUCHON, even just once a year. I also lived in Cebu for two years and have always loved Carcar chicharon.. It can be a worthwhile alternate prize

  192. Hi there MM! I am so glad I checked your blog this morning. I had a feeling you were up to something. :) Thank God I did! Can’t miss a freebie, can I? :D

Anyway, below is my answer to your contest:

Zubuchon has been invading my dreams for the past months now. That free-lechon would leave me no excuses anymore! I also would like to share it with my lechon-fanatic boyfriend.

  193. For a moment, i panicked. I missed several blog entries (busy 2 weeks + tax season) and was about to read today from the latest entry and back, only to be asked for a password. Good thing i can still access your instructions & clues and made it to your deadline Mr. MM. Sneaky, but yes fun. I remember you wrote about being a James Bond fan, but i never noticed so many entries where you cited JB or things related to JB until now when i had to figure out the password. Oh i just realized, JB is your initials as well! Very subliminal Mr. MM!

  194. If I win the lechon I will name it ‘Vesper’ – because once I’ve tasted it, its all I’ll want to eat.

  195. ako’y naglalaway na sa malutong na lechon,
nangangasim na parang suka na sawsawan ng chicharon,
sanay ibigay na ang premyo sa inyong lingkod: Ang Masibang Maton… bow!

  196. Hi MM, my name is Bond,James Bond. Yes I’m real and I do exist in this world. Rumor has it that your lechon is the best, that even my good friend Chef Bourdain confirmed it. But im not easily impressed, so in exchange of your lechon, I will give you all my girls, cars and gadgets. But wait there’s more! If you’re interested, you can replace Daniel Craig on the next James Bond installment for I have seen you using my spy gadgets and I think we have the same physique, and I think that you will be perfect for the role. I think this will be a fair trade. what do you say? This message will self destruct in 5…..4…..3…..2……1…….just kidding MM! your blog is perfectly safe. :) But seriously, I really want your lechon :) -James Bond

  197. I thought I would never figure out your password. Thanks to Mr. Google. I just love your blog!!!! :)

  198. MM, I have a confession to make. im a would be robber and im planning to do a lechon heist on all zubochon restaurant, the greatest lechon heist the world will ever see(if there’s one ), but upon learning that the owner is a james bond fanatic and thinking that he might picked up some “the moves” from JB, im positivethat he can kick me in the arse with great ease so I opted for diplomatic resolve. Can I have 1kilo of lechon, Please?
P.S. Im not really a would-be-robber, im just a MM fanatic and a foodie.

  199. Too bad I don’t live in Cebu nor have plans to go there in the next 3 months. I guess it’s Zubuchon Chicharon instead.

I’d love to have Zubuchon Chicharon because I’ve been reading your blog for years and I’ve had countless days where it’s only 7:30am but I’m already thinking about what I’ll eat for lunch. I’ve had poor substitutes of lechon kawali or lechon macau to try to curb my cravings but it doesn’t compare to the real thing.

  200. I must have that ZUBUCHON to “calm” my nerves after having a panic attack! After that frantic tracking of the password, I can’t get through the password protected post, only to find out my keyboard is on CAPS LOCK!

  201. One kilo of the “best pig ever” will be the best 40th gift for my hubby. This is made more special after he lost 30kg from his cohen diet. I cannot think of a better way to treat him.

  202. Because the wife love chicharon and it wasn’t available yet when we went to Cebu and visited Zubuchon!

  203. Hi MM, i was able to crack your code for the password :-)
Why do I want to have a taste of Zubuchon lechon (or chicharon)? Well……why not? The best pig ever :)

  204. Dear Marketman.

Because I told my husband about Zubuchon and requested him to bring me lechon while he is Cebu and after a lot of walking and tanong2 he did not find your restaurant and in the end wala akong pasalubong ):

  205. That’s why i love this site. how i figured it out? out of 23 official titles, there’s only 6 one word titles, used process of elimination next. Good thing this site does not revoke/suspend access after 3 bad tries, lol

  206. READ IN A SING-SONG MANNER:)

This little piggy went to market
This little piggy stayed at home
But for this little piggy –
    We delightedly cried:
    Whee:) Whee! Whee “) Whee!
All the way – at Zubuchon. ^_^

  207. Sweating as I tried to go for the password. Such a relief when I figured it out. It’s all worth it, just to gain access to this page.

    ————————–

ANSWER: A day-trip to Cebu from Manila just for Zubuchon sounded crazy to everyone I knew. The one I was with was even crazier … she had to travel from Bangkok just to taste your item! And yes, it was worth it!!!

  208. MM!!!! I had to leave soooo early for a wedding yesterday and I was exhausted when I reached home so fell asleep right away. When I opened your blog ohhhhhh…I panicked. I couldnt be left out!!!! No—–so rush I did and espite all my booboos…I made it woooohooo….

So dahil sa kabog ng dibdib na inabot,
    Baka sa MMMla di makasali…
    Kahit cholesterol mataas at madadali–
    Bahala na si Batman,
    Ang Senior citizen na walalangkaparis
    Hayyyy sanay manalo!!!

So there…MM—you nearly gave me a heart attack!!! Ha ha ha..am here!!!!!

  209. Zubochon lechon or chicharon? Nu mangabak ak, mabalin
    ladta met iti chicharon

Masapul nga siak ti mangabak ta ag49 ak itatta nga tawen
Ken kunada nga maidayo ka iti madi ken dakes nu
    maranam ti birbiruken ti pusom!

Zubochon lechon or chicharon? If I win, chicharon is
    Fine with me.

I need to win because I am turning 49 this year, and
They say that bad things will not befall you if you get
    To eat your heart’s desire.

Kinahanglan na mudaog ko kay mag49 nako karong tuig,
Ug ingon nila na malayo ka sa dili maayo kung
Makaon nimo ang ginapangita ng imong kasingkasing!

  210. I will pass on this one.
Next time I am in Cebu, I will drop by your store and have a taste of your products.
Good luck and I wish you more success.

  211. …you have a bunch of CREATIVE followers MM. Amazing people!
I’ll make sure that I visit Cebu when I vacation to PI, just so, I could have a Zubuchon lechon.

  212. Hi MM. My cardiologist just told me… Ija, if you want to live longer, please avoid fatty foods such as lechon… I told her, Doc, more than living longer, I want to die happy… so I deserve a kilo of Zubuchon MM!

I tried Zubuchon and convinced a lot of people to try it. I am pleased to tell you that it lived up to all the hype I created!

  213. Hi MM,

I believe I deserve to win because ever since I started reading your blog, I dreamed of those lechon many times!!!! And trust me, I am not kidding! :D

  214. am an avid fan, since you were first mentioned in ms. salcedo’s column in SIM, not just for the food articles but also for the prose, rants and raves. been in cebu once. a next visit for zubuchon, will be a very welcome bonus and rave!

ay pagsarap ga!, busog na agad ako e..

  215. Inspired by Shakespeare’s Romeo & Juliet:

    Oh piggy, oh piggy,
    Wherefore art thou –
    Perfect roasted little piggy.
Deny all else and refuse thy name,
If it be anything but –
    a Zubuchon.
    :)

  216. Zubuchon lechon or chicharon
Might I have some when o when
    Soon I hope maybe karon
because some say there’s none in heaven

  217. I must have the free lechon or chicharon, why, because even na naglilihi ako at lahat ng klase ng pork any luto eh hindi ko kinakain, and we even went to a wedding where there is letchon pero di ako tumikim kahit isang kurot ng balat. pero kahapon habang hinahanap ko clues sa password eh takam na takam ako sa zubuchon. kung nasa cebu nga lang kami eh mabilis pa sa alaskwatro cgurado eh nasa loob na kami ng isa sa mga resturants nyo =).

P.S nag ready nako ng suka na mraming bawang and sili for the chicharon =)

  218. I don’t know how MM extract winners on these long list of comments and I might not be one of them. Anyway I’m a fan of this blog for a couple of years now and I WANT THAT CHICHARON!!—I’m not mad at all :) Thanks MM

  219. and addition to my first message Im the first to comment that i got the passwordat MM’s post on clues.

  220. I’ve referred friends and clients from here to Zubuchon Cebu and always hear ooozingly positive feedback… so it’s my turn to try… even if only for vicarious enjoyment.

  221. I have been a long time fan and reader of your blog (since the early years). This is my first post. My daughter will be born within the next few days. What better way of celebrating her birth than sharing your yummy chicharon with the family (It would’ve been lechon but we’re in Manila.). Thanks and God bless. :)

  222. Free lechon/chicharon would go a long way to make the days of OFW relatives and friends in pork-deprived countries…

  223. Walang zubuchon dito sa amin. But I will be in cebu on may 17-19, 2012 maayo untang maka tilaw ta ana! looks very very yummmy lalo na kung free. :) would make my trip to cebu a very memorable one.

  224. It’s been a year since I had an angiogram and was told by the doctor to cut the fat out of my diet. And so I did – one year, my first full marathon done and fifteen pounds lighter. I feel great, strong and healthy. But something seems missing, I get strange cravings for MEAT. I haven’t had lechon in a darn long time! Masarap ang bawal. If I must indulge in a little fat, a bite of the BEST PIG EVER would be the most succulent forbidden fruit to sate my desire.

  225. Mmm, why do I absolutely, positively MUST have a kilo or lechon?

Because, I have been telling my friends who visits cebu to try Zubochon(at the airport) that it was realy nice. Anthony B. says it was the best Pig ever.. blahblah..

Pero sa totoo lang, nde ko ka pa sya natitikman :)

    Hahahaha.

  226. Will you grant a homesick expat a VIRTUAL taste of home with the fabled Zubuchon Chicharon? Even if I may not partake of the feast, hearing the chicharon crackles as my family enjoys the gift is already a great treat for me while I work here in HK.

  227. Whew! Almost missed this password hunt! Thanks MM!
When I was in Cebu last year and tasted my first zubuchon at your Mango Av branch, ay sows naman, dream come true, kinalimutan ko na ang diet ko! I will have lechon or chicharon anytime basta zubuchon. Yumm! Now I miss the calamansi marmalade and the guava jelly too… how I wish I can buy them somewhere in Manila.

Thanks MM, enjoy choosing your winner!

  228. Why should I have Zubuchon?

Because, I am an immortal goddess forbidden to eat mortal food. One who will give up immortality for one sinful bite of Zubuchon. My own piece of crunchy, heavenly paradise.

  229. I will praise Zubuchon with a song adapted from the French Nursery rhyme Frere Jacques / Are You Sleeping (in English)

    Zubu-piggy, zubu-piggy
Where are you? Where are you?
    Tasty, crunchy, healthy
    Tasty, crunchy, healthy
    In Cebu. In Cebu :)

  230. Seen on a billboard:

Zubuchon – Love at First Bite.

The story of Me & my Piggy.

Zbuchon, you had me at hello…

    Cheesy, but true. hehe

  231. … because my mom has left me hanging ever since she came back from Cebu with Zubuchon lechon but sans the new chicharon that I was so excited to taste! :(

  232. Zubuchon. It’s incredible, unbelievable! But it’s wonderful to believe.

    Be a convert now :)

  233. Since you’ve had us all crazed at unscrambling the password. Unscramble my answer! :P

of Sins Is Zubuchon Deadly Since Chicharon the one seven!

    Sinfully delicioso!

    Make me win :P

  234. Here’s my answer:

Because I am on a diet. Eating a Zubuchon will be my reward for not “pigging” out on chocolates and religiously going to the gym everyday and making a complete fool of myself by Zumba dancing with gusto in the last couple of weeks. It’ll be my light at the end of the tunnel; a carrot dangling in front of me so I will keep going.

  235. “The best things in life are free”

An ardent Market Manila fan and a fanatical supporter of the world’s bestest pork, I would like to thank Marketman for the free lechon.
    wooh hoo!

  236. It’s the best lechon in Cebu! must try…must taste… must come back to Cebu to eat it. Thanks, marketman.

  237. Pardon my confusion
    But I reckon your lechon
    is cooked to perfection!

    I’ll choose bacon over salmon,
    chicharon over mutton,
    lamon over Sharon!

    Whatever is in your potion,
    Zubuchon is a champion!

  238. I would like the free zubuchon because i am 11 weeks pregnant with my first baby! Yehey! That’s a reason to celebrate! And I need zubuchon to celebrate! Yipee!

  239. I need chicharon because I finally got to my desired body fat percentage and I can once again eat fatty food!

  240. As a big fan of AB, I must have a taste of the best pig ever! I have tasted the best lechons in Ormoc, Cebu & CDO. It’s time I have a taste of ZUBUCHON! How I really miss my VISMIN trips!

  241. I love lechon and chicharon and I still can’t believe all the fuzz about zubuchon and your chicharon, prove me wrong, send me, hahahaha

  242. I pledge to donate/match the proceeds of this event in the form of a lechon to be given to the Missionaries of Charity (Mother Teresa of Calcutta’s order).

It is my intention that the good sisters get to taste Zubuchon’s mouth-watering lechon after all they’ve done/are doing for the less privileged among us.

A bit of heaven on earth :) A healthy burst of sunshine with the Zubuchon :)

  243. I would love to have a killo of your succulent and super yummy ZUBUCHON or a package of the No MSG ZubuCharon!!!Being from Davao, ZUBUCHON makes my stay here in Cebu worthwhile!!!

  244. Last time I visited the Philippines (2009), I did not not know Zubuchon existed. Next visit, I will make an effort to try it in Cebu so my curiosity about MM lechon will be answered and satisfied.

  245. Hi Marketman! Marketmanila was a great cure for my homesickness while I was still working in Jakarta. Now Im back for good in Manila, Im looking forward to tasting the famous zubuchon and chicaron!

  246. Traveled all the way from Manila to Cebu last Nov just to eat Zubuchon! That overnight trip was lechon heaven and definitely yearning for more!

  247. Hi MM, it took me several posts to get the password and it was cool. I would love to eat lechon and chicharon again but I have to refrain for several months until my cholesterol level is back to normal. ;-).

    More power.

  248. I hope I’m not late to the lechon party! Pork, lechon, and chicharon in particular are part of my reason for living…and anyone who know me can attest to that! I have flown to Cebu just to get good lechon (for your eyeball), have hand carried 5 kilos of my favorite chicharon on a plane for my wedding (how could I get married without chicharon by my side??), and my name on my blog is Chichajo (for chicharon of course!). Not fat, not cholesterol, not *anything* can keep me away or faze me when it comes to pork! I can confidently say that I am a faithful ‘alagad’ to Mang Tomas!! :)

  249. Zubuchon-

The good: savory, crunchy, MSG-free – absolutely delish!

The bad: once you start, you just can’t get enough!

The ugly: there can be only 10 winners in this promo..

There is only One, that is – the Original – ZubuZubuZubuCHON!!!

    Overheard at zubuchon’s sold-out concert:

    “Pick me! Pick me!”

“Zubuchon, you’re the only one for me!”

That, ladies, is undying loove & devotion =)

  250. Because it would be absolutely awesome to have lip-smackin’ tasty lechon after my husband and his friends cross the finish line in Ironman Cebu this August!

  251. there’s no lechon in Singapore, and I can bring it back with meeeeee!!!! Will pack in my luggage!!

  252. hi marketman,

came from hongkong last holy week..bought zubuchon @ the cebu domestic airport for pasalubong to cagayan de oro..saved 500+ during HK stay just to buy your 1 kilo zubuchon..worth the save..or you could call it “fasting bcoz of zubuchon”…heheheh

  253. A kilo of Zubuchon or a supply of chicharon will make me a certified pretty Zubuchonista!!!
Red pig, red pig you are so yummy… Red pig, red pig you are so welcome in my tummy!!!

  254. I pledge to donate/match the proceeds from this event in the form of a lechon, to be given to the Missionaries of Charity (the religious order founded by Mother Teresa of Calcutta).

It is my wish that the good sisters taste this wonderful mouth-watering creation, after all the work they’ve been doing for the less privileged.

Zubuchon. A bit of heaven on earth =)

  255. This beats The DaVinci Code! First you do some sleuthing to crack the password. Next, try to come up with a remarkable comment to post. Then cross your fingers and pray that the random odds for free chicharon swing to your favor. =)

I used to be a James Bond fanatic, too, until Mr. Bean came along and did a better job than all of them combined: Sean Connery, Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton, Pierce Brosnan, Daniel Craig. Hehe…

  256. Only the best foods for this body! Plus my husband is in the Philippines right now but only till next Saturday…Zubuchon chicharon will be the best pasalubong he can ever bring home to me!

  257. You have to reward me Mr MM because i’ve been ur silent lurker for the longest time, haha!My son’s (who’s now a lawyer, ehem!) is a silent lurker for the longest time too…. and that makes us two! Cheers.

  258. Because according to this former beauty queen, “I don’t eat meat, I’m not a carnival.” :p hehehe.

On a serious note, I haven’t tasted Zubuchon or any lechon from Cebu yet. It’s definitely worth losing my CebuLechonity ( cebu lechon virginity ) :). Invading Cebu for Zubuchon in June !!!

  259. i’m a marketman fan. i’ve been wanting to visit cebu since zubuchon opened. unfortunately, i haven’t had a chance to visit cebu or your restaurant yet… so for my birthday this year, i’m planning a dumaguete-bohol-cebu trip… and of course to celebrate it with not just a lechon feast but with a zuuchon feast. =)

i enjoyed reading through the old entries while finding the clues… and i’m also a james bond fan. can’t wait for the new movie.

  260. Because its my birthday on the 20th – I truly deserve that 1 kg of crispy Zubuchon; and Its just a few hours away from Dumaguete City. Go sa birthday sa Mango Avenue Branch!

  261. Wow nice pics! Yummy…tagal na rin di eat lechon…(sigh) wish i’m home in the Philippines.

  262. Yaikss so many wants to get those lechon and chicharon… might as well settle with the pictures here.. burp… excuse me..
Enjoyed the game also, more please…

  263. love your lechon but my 90y/o grandma loves it more. have to settle for chicharon tho since we can’t go to cebu. we’ll think about the lechon while savoring the chicharon ;)

  264. Just looking at Zubuchon (skin, meat, grease and all) –
I craved for it right at this moment. *yum *yum *yum
I wish I can close my eyes and Zubuchon would magically appear in front of me
Luckily with this dying craving, I’ll ask my genie in a bottle a.k.a. my sister to grant my wish (her husband goes to Cebu almost every week for business trips).
I’ll try to eat in moderation. :D

P.S. Dear MM – For frozen Zubuchon, is there a way to re-heat it without using microwave?

  265. I believe this is one post of MM where the comments are really coming in like crazy. Nice to know that a lot of the lurkers have come out of their shell to actually comment. I think what triggered this deluge of response is the fear of not being able to read his posts if you do not know the password. If you are an MM regular you cannot afford to miss it or you may have nightmares!

  266. wow! one day later and the comments keep coming :-) either due to the joy of getting the p/w or this wonderful contest lol I enjoyed reading the homage to the mighty pig that is Zubuchon and chicharon. Love them all folks! MM, you really have the knack to keep us readers coming back. You got us all hooked! :-)

  267. i have been suffering from acid reflux since 2001 and have not tasted lechon ever since. but for zubochon, i am willing to shell out money for nexium 40 mgs, to be taken once a day for seven days. =)

  268. met THE red piggy in my dream last night and whispered to him, “Please tell Marketman to give this long time lurker a chance to win” ;)

  269. I don’t normally eat lechon meat, just the skin. But not when it comes to Zubuchon. I’ve only had Zubuchon twice. So “please sir, may I have some more?” :D

  270. I’m intrigued. I would like to get my hands on.. Chon.. the Zubu-Chon.
If not, then.. Ron, the Chicha-Ron.. will do, for my wife instead.

  271. I am currently visiting my 82-year old Mom here in Manila for 3 weeks. Wanted to take Mom to Cebu so we can taste the world famous Zubuchon. But my Mom gets tired so easily and is unable to travel. I also don’t know anyone traveling to Cebu. I am leaving for Houston on Tuesday morning. MM, if by some chance, I win this free Zubuchon, can I pay for the freight charges?

  272. I need to have a kilo of the best tasting lechon in the world because everything tastes better when its free.
Besides i havent tried it yet. i just keep reading all about it in your posts and im super dying to try it. im even willing to violate my strict diet rules for this Zubuchon.

  273. Zoi…Cwid…if you guys are still there, can I ask a BIG favour please? If you guys are planning to bring back Zubuchon, I will trade you some dried mushrooms in the fall or a whole loaf of chocolate cake or chicharon or ensaymadas for a taste of Zubuchon!

  274. I’m abroad so chicharon for my sister in QC please.

Her not being in government, it’ s her chance to be appropriated a “pork barrel”. :-) (hee hee?)

  275. “Hulog ng Langit” it is. Thanks to clues I made it as one of your lurkers. Will personally visit and try ZUBUCHON when we retire for good come 2014.

  276. It was quite fun just going thru the archives to search for your password. As it is, I look forward to a taste of Zubuchon when I come home for our 50th high school reunion in 2015. I hope to see you then and get to try the best lechon in the country. More power to you MM and God bless.

  277. My good side & bad side have some things to say:

Good side – Even if I don’t win, I’ll still buy & share the goodness of Zubuchon. It’s not about winning. It’s about sharing good food & good times.

Bad side – I’ll stalk the winner ’til he gives me a share of his Zubuchon.

  278. Was so excited when I found out the password and am truly glad I did. As for the lechon, You need to award me with one because just the thought of winning one, and while writing this, makes my mouth water (more like drool) like a substance dependent crazed addict. Please please pleasssseee.

  279. have no immediate plans of going to cebu yet but i am so happy to have guessed the password :D i always go to your blog whenever i’m in need of recipes :D we are still using your chicken inasal recipe until now!

  280. I MUST have 500 grams of chicharon because there’s too much blood in my lard :)

  281. MM, with all the people planning to visit Cebu for a taste of Zubuchon you should be appointed Cebu’s ambassador of goodwill and good eats :)

  282. Nakakahiya? Of course not! Nakakatuwa? Super! It’s gonna be hard to choose the winning entries, MM. Too many good ones! :)

  283. Hi, MM… i guess i’m already too late for that free lechon or chicharon.thanks MM…

  284. I love to taste that superb looking Zubuchon, but I know it’s kinda too late, but it’s ok, I feel I’m already a BIG WINNER by just reading your post specially those password protected, hehehe Many many thanks MM. I know you really love us!

  285. i need to maintain my high cholesterol levels otherwise i go through withdrawals… that is why i need that zubuchon!!!!

  286. I introduced Zubochon to my nephew who is stationed in Cebu (he’s a flight steward). He said he had tried Zubochon but there are better lechons he had eaten in Cebu. I want to win this prize for him so he can go back and try Zubochon again and again, until he’s convinced that it’s the best!

  287. OMG! It’s Friday morning already! I hope I am not yet late, or else i might loose the chance to have a plate!… of course, of your Zubuchon, Mr. MM.

Next month, my husband will be having a high school batch homecoming in Mindanao and from Southern Luzon we will go there as a family. But I asked him if we could pass by Cebu City first, because I haven’t been there yet, and most especially, I want to have a chance to taste ZUBUCHON. We’ve booked our flight since October 2011 and just imagine how long I’ve been that excited, and my first taste of Zubuchon will definitely be more memorable if it is a plate courtesy of you, Mr. MM!

  288. I really wanted to taste Zubuchon but we do not have enough resources to travel to Cebu. I hope someday my family and I could taste the LECHON or CHICHARON.

  289. i attended world electronics forum yest in cebu and made it a point to drop by zubuchon. i looooooove the kamias shake!!! :)

  290. Was feeling blue because I missed out on the password game ( crappy Internet connection). But got the clue after reading the comments. Failed a couple times, but persistence won. Now I hope I have a shot at a kilo of zubuchon!!!!

  291. I’ve tasted Zubuchon. A friend from Cebu brought a kilo for me in Taipei. It was sooo good I almost ate it alone. My next bilin to anyone coming from Cebu would be chicharon.

    Thank you MM! For this…

  292. thank you so much for sending me the password :) whoever wins the free lechon will love it. when my husband and i went to cebu last year, we tried the famous pig and our family are zubu-lovers :)
