AT THE REQUEST OF THE VIRLANIE FOUNDATION, I AM POSTING THIS PRESS RELEASE SO THAT THE READERS OF MARKETMANILA.COM ARE INFORMED OF THIS WONDERFUL PROGRAM. Many of the regular readers know that marketmanila.com has been sponsoring feeding programs for undernourished public school children through the generosity of reader donations for the past 4 school years, and by the end of this school year we will probably provide approximately 130,000 nutritionally complete meals in total. I applaud efforts such as these of the Virlanie foundation, and I hope people support the program… Thanks.

For 18 years, Virlanie Foundation has shared a family and a home to 13,500 street children in Manila. With the support of donors and volunteers, we are able to continuously care for children to grow as successful individuals, like Vicky who was once a Virlanie child, now is a high school teacher at Novaliches. EAT. LOVE. SMILE.
Virlanie Foundation unveils the Valentine’s Day edition of its annual Dine to Smile campaign: Eat. Love. Smile.
At a time when almost 3.4 million Filipino families experience hunger, Virlanie Foundation is running an annual campaign that harnesses the goodwill of ManilaË™s lovers of fine dining. Dine to Smile is the Foundation’s way to help patrons seeking the best food in Manila do more than eat well; their meal will help feed street children if they choose Virlanie’s partner restaurants.
Inspired by the success of Virlanie is my Valentine two years ago, by 8 to Educate in 2009 and by Dine to Smile in 2010, Virlanie continues the adventure with Eat.Love.Smile. A bigger, better and bolder campaign, it will tell more people of the plight of street children and encourage them to make a difference to their lives. For Eat.Love.Smile. twelve generous partner restaurants have each committed to sponsor the daily meals of 20 children in a Virlanie home for a whole month.
So this Valentine’s Day, we invite you to Eat, Love, and Smile. EAT with your loved ones at any of our partner restaurants during the month of LOVE and help give back the SMILE to street children.
Eat at Cav, Chef Jessie’s restaurants, Cicou, La Cocina de Tita Moning, Crisostomo (Eastwood and Nuvali), Felix, Florabel, Sala, Sala Bistro and People’s Palace. Be you in Makati, Ortigas or Taguig City for Valentine’s Day, there is a restaurant for you. Savor each bite as you enjoy the sumptuous dishes of Manila’s finest chefs. For the delectable French Duck Breast with wine pairings, visit Cav at Fort Bonifacio High Street. Or for an Old Manila style Valentine’s, try La Cocina de Tita Moning’s Beef Osso Buco Gremolata.
Help give back the smile to street children: with full stomachs and warm hearts, the children will be able to share that smile.

Marketman, is it just me, or is the Virlanie link you posted not working? I wanted to learn more about the foundation.
KC, you seem to be right, for some reason, their main site seems down. But there are other sites that describe what they do… Also the cached version of their main page contains some info. Will check with them on Monday… Thanks.
thanks for sharing this! will try to dine in one of the restos participating
you are a man with a big heart. i wish you and the foundation a very big success! many blessings to you and your family.
Dear KC – thank you for your interest in the plight of street children! The website should be back online by end of today (Monday 7 February – Manila time); we had some difficulty with the domain name this weekend.
As Market Man says, there is information about us scattered all over the internet. This is our YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/user/virlaniefoundation?feature=mhum In case you’re wondering, the child in our (free) TV advert is one of ours – the first time for her in front of a camera!
If ever you’re passing through Makati, do come and visit the Foundation!
all the best, julian
