Hi everyone! Just a quick note to let you know we are currently on our summer holiday trip. I have written daily posts to keep you amused, but for the most part, we are on vacation. I will not have regular access to email nor do I plan to spend much time on my computer, so forgive me if I am less than responsive to comments, emails, enquiries, etc. over the next couple of weeks. For those of you who are bored and hungry for more food, please check the archives of this blog which have nearly 1,700 different posts to keep you busy. As for regular commenters, you can manage to keep each other amused, no? We all hope you enjoy the remainder of your summer holidays (if you are in the Philippines) or the beginning of your summer in most temperate regions of the planet… Thanks! :)
The breathtaking view at 9:30p.m. from the balcony of our hotel room…

met a greek restaurant owner who had a small shop at the quay in Darwin. he introduced me and my shipmates to grilled octupus tentacles and sprinklled with lemon and olive oil. one of the best outdoor eating establishments we’ve been to. the hospitality made simple dishes just so much better.
Enjoy your holiday, MM and Family!
I’m looking forward to some Greek recipes you might be posting when you come back.
Happy holiday to MM and family!
Everything Greek is Greek to me but there is a good Latin expression to keep in mind when you’re traveling, aspiritate viae noli perturbari which means do not let the little bumps along the way bother you. Have a good time!
Happy travels, MM and family!

Wouldn’t it be so fab if I were home in Athens and take you around…..?
Kales diakopes as the greeks say!!!!
shalimar, yes, that would have been great. Between the language, alphabet and Greek being Greek, we felt very “fish out of water for a day or so…” but now we have taken the subways and walked all over, the city is really growing on us… and the food is SPECTACULAR. :) Your friend, Jo, has sent fabulous recommendations for eating as well… Thanks!
Hi MM, nice shot of Plaka district with the Parthenon in the background. On our recent trip, we were taken aback when a receptionist of a restaurant (forgot the name) somewhere along Adrianou (?) St started talking to us in Tagalog and invited us to try his place. Turns out his lolo is a Filipino from Mandaluyong. Nice anecdote but the food disappointed.
If you have time to go out of town, make sure you visit the monasteries in Meteora. Enjoy!
I hope you will post all the food places you have tried since it may be useful for some of us who may be planning a trip to Greece in the future. Thanks.
Have a wonderful vacation MM! Stay safe!
