One of the fresh evergreen wreaths we brought back from the Borough market is used as a centerpiece on our coffee table. I just placed it on a glass “lazy susan” (meant for cheese) and added some ceramic pine cones, real dried pine cones, a mixture of fresh nuts like walnuts, almonds, filberts (hazelnuts) and pecans.
For it’s first few days, I have added some fantastic “kiat-kiat’s” or little mandarin oranges. They were so fresh they had glossy leaves and stems intact. After munching on those as snacks or for dessert, the centerpiece will see some “fluffing up” in the days approaching Christmas.
On second look, the white ceramic pine cones appear too jarring, and I wouldn’t do that combination again. But the combination of pine fragrance and that of the oranges is just Christmas personified. We have a bowl of mixed nuts nearby and a nutcracker so that guests can crack their own.
Did you catch my toes? :)

The last picture would have been perfect if not for the zombie toes! :-)
Yes, I agree. The white ceramic pine cones are out of place in this arrangement.
toesies exposed.
Merry Christmas/happy new year to you, MM and family and the MM ‘family’
Roughly gold-leafing or gilding the ceramic pine cones, I think, would do the trick along with perhaps a few red velvet bows.
